Re: Surrey cycling - Public meeting 28 Nov.

I forwarded this thread to someone I know who lives in the Leatherhead/Box Hill area of Surrey and who is a regular commuting, touring, leisure and utility cyclist. Her reply was quite interesting. It seems that the good folk of Surrey might have some degree of justification in their complaints. &q...

Re: Surrey cycling - Public meeting 28 Nov.

Pete, I agree with the comments in your post, especially about not turning up en masse to the meeting. Not much will be gained from what I imagine would be a complete polarisation. Yes, writing to your own County Councillor would be ideal, but the survey is very quick to complete, and the more cycli...

Re: Surrey cycling - Public meeting 28 Nov.

.. and here's the Consultation Document and survey. I think as many cyclists as possible should complete the survey, because Ian Huggins has asked all his petitioners to complete it with their views. http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/roads-and-transport-policies-plans-and-consultations/...

Surrey cycling - Public meeting 28 Nov.

Just a heads-up, really - I'm sure a lot of us are aware of this petition : http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/surrey-county-council-stop-surrey-being-turned-into-a-cycle-track?utm_source=supporter_message&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=petition_message_notice Apparently there is a Surrey ...

Re: Changing Campag 9sp cassette

UPDATE - for those that may be interested .. Before changing the cassette, I tested the 'big-ring-big-cog' combination with the current 26 cassette. although it reached, the chain was VERY tight. With the new cassette on, it wouldn't change into this combination, so I put a new chain on (SRAM PC971)...

Changing Campag 9sp cassette

I have acquired a lovely Bob Jackson tourer (from this very forum), and just need another couple of cogs at the back for the very steep bits around here. Currently, it has a Veloce 9sp cassette 13-26 and I have a 13-28 cassette which I want to swap. My question is; will I have to alter the chain len...

Re: campag 10speed woes

Off at a slight tangent - I'm considering buying a second hand bike (2006) which has a full Record (Ultra 10) spec. Have the above problems been an issue in the past with this model of groupset, or are they more of a recent nature?

Thanks
MIke.

Re: Sachs Maillard cassette removal

Yes, I think I'll buy that remover tool, and replace the freewheel with a 14-24. That should be fine. I'll also replace the chain - I've always used KMC or SRAM before, but is there a specific type/width of chain that should be used for this type of 6-speed freewheel? Thanks again - I really appreci...

Re: Sachs Maillard cassette removal

OK, thanks.

All I really need are a couple of lower gears, so I don't want to spend a fortune on it.

I've always wanted a vintage bike, and this came up. Perhaps I should have thought more about it first! I might put it back on the market, as I'm sure someone will want it.

Cheers
Mike.
