Re: Did Tony Blair do anything right?

Blair wasn't one of our best PMs but he was certainly better than his two predecessors. Damned with faint praise maybe but it's the best anyone can say about him. Spot on. It's the BEST anyone can say about him. I think many appear to have been hoodwinked by this guy. I probably detest him in the s...

Really, even after the WMD saga.

1) The Gulf war and weapons of mass destruction - no 2) Opening the doors prematurely to the eastern europeans when we didnt have to so instead of 16,000 160,000 came in the first year - no 3) "Blair's accession in 1997 marked the moment when Labour embraced the principles of the free market. ...

Re: How much worse does it have to get?

You must be mistaken,Labour haven't been in power since 1979,New Labour(Tories in Labour suits)were in power from 1997 to 2009 but not the real Labour party. In any case the homeless figures where going steadily down under New Labour only to begin rising again under the present bunch of wmillionair...

Stats do show a rise since 2010 though still lower than most of the time Labour was last in govt. Re: Public libraries, decline of

About two years ago I attended a meeting at my library which was about how to increase usage. I suggested fewer opening hours during the day, more in the evenings, and Sunday opening. I said this would mean the library would be open during more hours when people were not at work or school. We were ...

Re: First car in Space

Getting a lot of free publicity, there is only one thing worse than not being talked about.. The Grauniad reports that the firm is losing quite a lot of money Indeed. And that is ultimately what the showmanship is about. In order to get folk to invest a fortune in a car company making unfashionable...

Luckily we found out a Space X flight had been rescheduled while we were in Florida. What an experience watching a night laun...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The Press are less and less important. Have you looked at the Press this morning? I haven't. Nor yesterday. Or the day before. Europe is not the safe bastion of rights you imagine. It is mostly okay now, but the Far Right is bubbling away there in a way that it simply isn't here. In the UK we have ...

Re: Are cheap USB dynamo chargers any good?

Anyone got any practical experience of the above mentioned Tigra Sport? Seems to be on sale at Evans at the mo for under £20. I would be using the converter to feed into a powerbank , nott a device. Hi, I've been using one of these for a few rides and it seems to work perfectly. With the lights tur...

Just feel sympathy for all those who voted out primarily so that all those nasty foreigners would be sent back where they belong and free up all those jobs for the English.....and to prevent those woolly minded foreign judges from protecting the rights of the oppressed English (and Welsh!) rather t...

Re: E-bikes: depressing or what?

I'm thinking about building up a front hub motor E-bike for a commuting bike to travel 5 miles each way to work and back. There is one nasty hill on the way to work that with some assistance would allow me to get to work without having to shower etc. If E-bikes allow people to continue cycling I'm a...

Re: Dutch Bike?

I think this one :- https://www.greenhatcycles.com/ as it actually has bicycles! Dutch bikes come in all prices qualities. Cheap ones tend to go for ages but are more of a faff to adjust/repair. Gazelle is pretty much top of the pile. A tad heavy (but usually includes lights/stand/rack/lock etc etc...

Dutch Bike?

I'm looking for some advice, my wife is after a bike to commute to work. I noticed an outfit in Cambridge that is selling a number of second hand Dutch style bikes with hub gears and drum brakes. Has anyone had any experience of The Green Hat?

Regards,
