Another bout of oops, a bit too early, celebrating!
Caught the Discovery+ feed at the right moment on the bus to work and saw the last 3km, feel sorry for Wiebes but Vos was stronger and beat Pfeiffer Georgi, unlike in the Roubaix veledrome.

I've chewed the slotted heads so my next step is to try drilling it out. For those who have attempted this before what size of LH drill bit did you use and did you drill a pilot hole first?.
I swapped mine for allen key bolts after reading similar horror stories.

Re: Brake bleed kit....

You will need a bleed funnel when bleeding Shimano road brakes, it doesn't come with the Epic bleed kit.

Pre FG takeover this wasn't the case but it's a Sports Direct thing. I was in a SD store and a customer wanted a refund on a ship to store item which the store OK'd but they weren't refunding the shipping costs despite it comiing on the store's regular delivery.

Re: IS to flatmount spa wayfarer

When I went to R7000 11sp on my Planet X frame I had the same issue of fitting flat mount callipers to a postmount frame and similar adapters were pointed out to me but this was 4 yeasrs ago and the cost of the adapters and postage from the US made it just as cheap to buy MTB callipers to fit my frame which worked fine with dropbar hydraulic levers.

Re: bike rentals Barcelonnette

This was something we looked at on a previous visit to Barcelona but never got round to doing anything about it. I did have several hire places bookmarked but don't any longer. One from memory is https://global.velodrom.cc/bicycle-rental/ I can't vouch for prices but the bikes do seem to be of the higher end and you'll be wise to brisg your own pedals and shoes if you use clipless pedals. It'll still be warm in September. If you want any tips about travel in and around Barcelona drop me a PM and I'll share my knowledge.

Re: A55 Llanairfechan to Bangor - is cycling banned?

In Aprl 2022 I went to Llandudno with my OH and the bike and stayed in a Travelodge with a planned 27 mile ride to llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in the diary. From Llandudno to the other side of Conwy the ride was on urbal A roads. Once past Conwy it was on a seperate cycle path close to the A55 or quiet country lanes that were close to the A55. A thing I failed to take into consideration wa the headwind as the ride was along the coast and what I thought would be a 2 hour ride turned into a 2 1/2 hour ride.

Re: Mudflaps. What do you use?

Another Rawflap user here, with a wide one on the front and a wide on the rear. I went with plain but added red reflective tape as aused on the back of HGV trailers etc. all over it. I have been toying with ideas about splashback on the front guard and have looked at HGV mudguards up close and the closest I can think of is self adhesive velcro to reduce the spray from surface water.

Re: Annoying chain rub on new bike.

I had a R7000 front mech and couldn't get it setup without rubbing, one end of travel would be fine but the other would rub, even the guy in the LBS said he couldn't get his setup perfectly so I swapped the R7000 front mech to an older 5800 front mech and had silence from the drive train.

Re: Looking for a cartridge bearing rear hub (winter use)

Hope hubs might be expensive but they do last well. I've got a Pro2 Evo rear hub and it has had a set of bearing replaced which considering I've been using it for the last 7 years and clocked up 26,000 miles with it I'm happy for the price I paid.

Re: single speed drive train noise

Chainline or too m uch tension in the chain. I found a too tight chain was noisy when I had a SS bike, reducing chain tension slighly cured the noise.

Re: BSA 68mm SRAM Dub Bottom Bracket Experience?

Think my experiences of DUB is down to bad install by my mechanic, myself. Despite watching YT videos I don't feel the BB has ever been set up perfectly and is too tight and won't spin easily. I haven't really had the time to play with it to reset it up.

Re: 1001 uses for old brake (and gear) cables

A single ‘chocolate block’ electrical connector and an old cable threaded through the holes in the door of my work locker make a good place to clip pens and hang other useful things that would get lost in the depths of my locker.

I went to the show last year at the NEC and was disappointed with what was on show and although we couldn't get the coach home till 7pm we were wandering round Bull Ring shopping centre at 4pm having left the show just after 3pm.
