Re: Bottle Cage mount removal

Thanks for the reply, I guess its a little fraught but unlikely to cause any issues depending how easy it is to remove. Sepcialized replied and said the frame would not be covered under warranty if it was removed so they didn't recommend doing it - which is fair enough. I think I will leave it as it...

Re: Rim width/tyre choices

Well if you haven't brought it as your post suggests then perhaps you should consider something else. Or change wheels as already suggested if you already own the bike.

Re: Want to start mountain biking - what bike model should I buy?

Hi, as said by others for £700 you need to be looking at a Hard Tail - nothing wrong with full Suss but you will learn more and quicker on a Hard tail. Advice it difficult as what you feel you will want to do now may be different to what it will be in a year but you have to start somewhere. Mail ord...

Re: Rim width/tyre choices

Well those width rims seem to essentially be 'plus' sized for 26" - I have never seen 'Plus' sized in 26" only in 650b and 29. Essentially I think it would be unwise to fit 2.3 tyres to such a wide rim, I run 2.35 on 29mm (internal width) rims and I probably wouldn't want to go much narrow...

Re: Is my new bike set up ok?

Hi, looking at the spec for that bike (if its the BTWIN Rockrider 340) its a pretty basic bike with low end components, which you would expect for £159 - (I sometimes wonder how that's possible) - its okay but I suspect that as your finding even when new and set up properly (assuming it is) its alwa...

Bottle Cage mount removal

I would like to install a Dropper Seatpost on my mountain bike but to fit a post with 125mm drop (or more)- which I would prefer - the top bottle cage mount gets in the way - is it possible to remove the top bottle cage boss/rivnut mount and would the frame be weakened in any way not having the moun...

Re: New Road Bike questions...

General point...... The riding position on "road" bikes is aimed at speed, speed, and speed......there are few concessions made to comfort. Its OK if you are 20 , fit and flexible, and prepared to put in the hours to "get used to it"......however, if you are not all of these thi...

Re: New Road Bike questions...

You seem to have everything back to front. If you want a bike to fit well the best place to go is a good bike shop not best fit on line. A decent bikeshop will measure you fit you to the bike change stems etc where neccessary. The problem with a bike fit then buying from ribble is all frames are sl...

Re: New Road Bike questions...

no point in buying a new bike if it doesn't fit you! A suggestion; get a bike fit on your touring bikes, then ride that position for a while to see if it is OK for you. Then you can go buy new bikes with confidence. cheers Our bikes for touring are fine but I ride with a Trekking Bar setup (origina...

New Road Bike questions...

Myself and Mrs are looking to get a Road Bike each (about £1000'ish max on each) and I would be interested in any feedback and thoughts on the following. We ideally would like them to be as good fit as possible - as opposed to going to the local bike shop and saying 'oh your a Medium sir' or whateve...

Re: Pedal reflector law fixes

Is it not the case that the reason for having Reflectors as a legal requirement (especially when purchasing a bike) is that if the rider is on the road at night having chosen to use lights (like children/youths or foolish adults) they at least stand a chance of being spotted - assuming they haven't ...

Waterproof Jacket recommendations.

I am looking at getting a waterproof jacket to wear all the time for my 6 mile commute during the winter (not just to put on when it rains). I want one that wont make me to hot and sweaty but also be reliably waterproof and last a good few years. Not overly worried about price though the cheaper the...

Re: Do you drive as well as cycle?

I ride a bike for fitness and leisure but own two cars, a Eurobox and a Classic. My love is bicycle touring, just for a day, a few days a week or longer. I also like Classic motor car events, particularly things like the Goodwood revival. If I go to the local big town I go by bus (free on my bus pa...
