Re: Pre-war bike clubs

Thanks guys. I have now established contact of sorts with Barbara Atkins. She and her husband Ken helped run Kingston RCC in the immediate post-war years. She recalls both Charlie Whitbourne and also Cyril Peacock (who later transferred to Tooting BC) Any further snippets gratefully lapped up. Peter...

Re: Cycling through Italian mountain tunnels

Thanks Andy and all other contributors.
Regarding flying, I have used easyjet a couple of times with my precious vintage road bikes, no probs yet.
Those pedalling up the Croce d'Aune say a prayer of thanks to a certain Mr. Campagnolo...... ;-)

Re: Bike Bags on EasyJet

I have made a couple of EJ trips LGW to Pisa with 'classic' 60s lightweight road bikes, no probs. Re: fixed wheel touring

As a teenager I toured with my friends on fixed 49x16, rear panniers and a saddlebag, staying at YHAs. E.g Dorset-Oxford-Norfolk-Kent-South Coast. Note - no mountain passes! No problem really, modest distances 60-100 miles per day.

Re: Cycling through Italian mountain tunnels

We are planning a similar trip - Little Venice (London) to Large Venice (Italy). Can you offer any advice on routes?

Re: New to fixed wheel any tips?

1. Don't stop pumping. Think fluid.
2. Take it easy on the turns.
3. Enjoy the silence.

Pre-war bike clubs

I wish to find out about the Kingston ROAD CC if I can. From their websites I find that Kingston WHEELERS CC and Kingston PHOENIX CC (Offshoot of CTC Kingston DA) were both in existence before 1939. Is the badge I have from a pre-cursor to one of these clubs or was it a third bike club in the same t...

Re: Tubular tyres , mavic rims, - advice for 'tubs' novice

I might be interested in buying your Mavic sprint rims for my rebuild. How many spoke holes on each?
