Re: Rear Indicator Kit
I'd want any indicators on the handlebars so I can see they are actually working.

Re: Halfords HRM
Or you have AF, try cleaning pad, swap battery but if you're fit (it is only fit people who notice) and getting on (is when you notice and have money for HRM) then it isn't out of the question.

Re: Gore-Tex: is it really this bad?
I'm too sweaty for Goretex, bought two fairly expensive jackets (I didn't realise it was me at first) before I realised, oh for sympatex (?) that just transported sweat out even if the outer had wetted out.

Re: LEJOG May 2023: Review of Barrett Cicerone guide book, lessons learned
As compact doubles are 50/34 & 11-34T for 1:1 then I can't really see a point in a 1x11 for just 0.95 given the massive steps the 1x gives for a bail gear so 'high' - that must be just be a poor choice from bike maker and I don't think Richard could have foreseen that likelihood.
As the saying goes if you can get to Bristol - from whichever end, you'll finish, Cornwall is either done or you're match fit. I hated Cornwall on 48/38/26 with 11-32 (26/32 for 0.81) I can just about manage steep stuff now (Shelf say) on 30/36 (0.83) but would like lower - yes I know I should man up.
When it comes to packing for a tour discard 50% of the kit, oh and do that TWICE!

Re: Why people don't post pictures of their bikes in kitchens anymore?
I remember Marmite and other well known brands being a feature of any kitchen bike shot. Marmite and possibly Coleman's (mustard) most likely many others - might have been foska related but I was a relative newcomer to those posts (maybe acf?/yacf/cyclechat) and obv. in the interim I've lost the real details of those memories

Re: rear camera help
I'm perfectly happy with my chilli cam, two prosecutions (pending) to its name !deeferdonk wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 9:43am The chilli bullet cameras are more budget priced than most - and i think is a better form factor than a big square go-pro type camera.
Battery life seems decent too.
(i don't have one so can't give direct experience but i would definitely consider if i was buying)
I have a drift ghost Xl camera which may be out of your price range but can be got on aliexpress for about £80+
New model out too:-

Re: Bike locks ?
Are they testing locks with battery angle grinders? If not then the test isn't much use, a makita (liberated from a builders van) is the tool of choice now in bike theft.

Re: Is it Cheating
Hardly anyone does Lands End to John o'Groats [1] and in any case I've not seen rules that state it has to be consecutive days so just do it.
[1] I mean 40 odd hours is impressive for non stop [2] but real people have to take many days.
[2] but it isn't actually non stop so giving way, having a poss even [3] all means it's only ever LE to somewhere that's not actually JoG
[3] I might just be taking the poss a bit.

September 2021 it wasn't rideable (or allowed) the tunnel very iffy on foot with a torch! It will apparently eventually become a bike route.

Re: Chain ring guard please
I had a Giant that had a plastic chain guard mounted via the plain holes just below the tooth line, not sure it was Suntour running gear, you could check the Suntour website to see if they exist.
