Re: Taken the plunge.

Got both motor and battery from Aliexpress hemo. The unit 48v battery with the motor controller set to 25 kph max and 6 amps. Shortly I will include a meter to measure voltage and amps with a cumulative watt count. From reading around the subject it is clear that ALL the ebike motors can produce far...

Re: Taken the plunge.

After a year of reading up on ebike kits I've purchased a Tongsheng tsdz2 with the intention of fitting to my Pino tanden. Although I ride standard tandems regularly it is for fairly short distances without attempting the challenging hills. As my usual Pino tandem partner is neither particularly fir...

Orux and IGN France

Wonder if anyone here can help me please? I use the excellent Orux maps with online mapping from OS and the IGN in Spain at 25000. Can anyone explain how to add IGN France to the mapsource file. Since it is available free from here for example it should be possible. http://www.randogps.net/gps-rando...

Re: Four corners and five Bens

I'm pretty sure George Berwick did this years ago without the Bens. I vaguely remember something about 160 mpd carrying camping gear but memory may play tricks. https://www.fifedirect.org.uk/minisites/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.display&pageid=CADB6BE7-A9FB-9F42-9B01F185066BBD25&siteID=FE129D4...

Re: Best android map app?

Orux works very well for me. Sadly the current version will not load OS or Goggle maps after the copyright holders gave the developer the hard word. Really unfair when you consider they are already free to download to the general public. Earlier versions of Orux are readily available and have no suc...

Re: how to get a Pino Tandem from Hull to Holyhead by train?

If it's any help we took the Pino on the Hull to Leeds train a couple of years ago. We covered the front pedals with a bag and placed pannier bags on the front seat. No problems at all http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/johninleeds/Cycle%20camping/cycle3.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: ....about a strange rainbow?

Saw the same or similar in France a couple of years ago Colin. Afternoon, and it stayed directly overhead although the thin cloud moved constantly. Took a number of pictures over probably 20 minutes. Interesting explanations though I still need convincing I'm afraid  http://i763.photobucket.co...

Re: Scotland Winter Bike Ride

Point of freezing temperatures and wet has always been the biggest problem for me. Being wet through, cold and then camping with wet gear is miserable unless you have a fire. Well below freezing and your gear will at least stay dry. Pile and Pertex works well when wet. Buffalo works but Montane seem...

Once upon a time in the west
. Powerful, cruel, amazing score and Cardinale at her most beautiful.

Departures. Simple, human a nearly perfect film.

Lord or the Rings. We'll probably enjoy them again at Christmas
