Done, looks like I've got one of the last few places.

Re: 10 day LEJOG completed - take 2

Well done,
I'm not sure I'd have been keen enough to go back and have another go the same year. Like you I did solo unsupported, it can get quite lonely out there on the road.

EMITREMMUS this Sunday Oct 30th, Stevenage

I've just found out about this and will probably give it a whirl - anyone got a GPX or memorymap course they can send me for this ride, thanks, I'd like to check the profile as I've go pretty high gearing on my new road bike.

thanks

Re: Sleeping Bag choices

Have a look at Mountain Equipment Xero 350,4* luxury, super light, under 700 grams, down is the way to go, this bag is comfortable from zero to warm summer nights. Unfortunately you get what you pay for when it comes to sleeping bags, I've dumped several synthetic bags since having this one.

Re: Views on a tent

I've had a normal Wild Country Duolite for a couple of years (not the tourer), it's a solid tent, very waterproof/windproof, good seating at front. I consider it too heavy for cycle touring.

In the past I've tied the bike through to my sleeping bag by some thin cord and put a weedy lock on it.

Anyone done it in winter?

Now that I've cracked LEJOG in July, looking for new challenges, possibly things to do over winter. So wondering if anyone has completed JOGLE in Winter? I can see the obvious problems: Daylight: keeping lights tip-top, though imagine a combination of a strong front light, Lumicycle or similar, with...

Great write-up, I need my sleep to much, and like to get into a pub each night, to emulate that !

WELL DONE !!

Re: Garmin GPS - confusion re maps?

I've used Memory Map and Garmin E-Trex, then more recently an Edge, mainly for routes that I plan before I leave, I don't need maps on the Garmin, I use the turn by turn instructions and the cycle computer functions, and have the Maps printed & laminated at A5 size with the route overlayed ( Mem...

Re: Best bike for Ride Across Britain

Yes, I'd been training on my TriCross and after a while and some reading I changed the tyres from the standard ones to 25mm road tyres at 100psi now my average speed has increased or my old speed is now easier, though the ride is alot harder. Paul Get some fat road tires and you can lower the air p...

Re: July 11th 4 day LEJOG

Just back from completing LEJOG unsupported in 3 days 22 hours 50 mins . total of 850 miles . started 16:10 Monday , finished 15:00 Friday. very tough with the rain and lack of sleep , an epic ride . Thats Epic alright, what was the 850 mile route? as I though I'd nailed the shortest route at 854 a...

Re: Just under 2 months to go! Accommodation Reccommendations?

Have you considered camping? you wouldn't need to book anything, I slept very comfortable every night on my recent ride, and when in campsites the facilities are normally excellent. Choose lightweight equipment, tent 1.2kg, sleeping bag, 700g, thermorest, 450g, and you are sorted with a warm and cos...

Re: Shortest route

Well I did it! 10 days, the history on my Garmin shows I covered ~850 miles, I've got to take a good look at the GPS tracks before I confirm my actual distance, compared to the planned route. It wasn't possible to take all planned shortcuts due to weather in Scotland. The route was an interesting mi...

Re: Best bike for Ride Across Britain

I'm planning on doing the Ride Across Britain too. I'm a bit unsure on the best bike to use as well. The Tricross should be fine if you change the tyres over to something with a bit less rolling resistance. Have you ordered it? Hi Aberdeen_lune- glad I'm not the only one trying to make the decision...
