Re: Viscount bicycles!!

My other Aerospace - this blue and silver 74 - 75 Pro - had to put up with being my main bike for a couple of years, and it was looking a bit tired and dog eared as a result. It has had an exruciatingly slow tidy up over the last year or so, until yesterday I realised I had finished it and would act...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

It's in shed at moment , but here's a photo to whet your appetite https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1753/418583...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Here's my Aerospace 600EX, which would have been twins with Peuf's when it was new: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7867/32856452008_cb590a5ed5_z.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7857/31790171597_897d1cb541_z.jpg Build - well, cobbling together would probably be more accurate - thread here: http://...

Re: Tour de Yorkshire

I missed the TdF last year (or at least, I didn't see it live, although I was glued to the telly) but me and the family watched the finish of Stage 1 in Scarborough, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mrs G got very excited by Sir Bradley's presence, but inexplicably turned down my offer to wear my cycling ...

Moor to Sea Cycle Network - North Yorkshire Moors

I came across a sign post for the Moor to Sea route while I was out exploring Wykeham Forest - http://thelangsett.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/backwoods.html - if you've ridden all (or part) of the network, I'd be really interested in hearing what you think. The bit I was on included the lovely view from ...

Re: SCARBOROUGH - WHITBY CYCLE PATH

Well, I've had a go on this little beauty... ...and it's still an infuriating mix of incredible views and hopeless surface. The more I ride the route, the more I think it should be surfaced so that anyone can use it. It'd be like a cycling secret weapon: stick the kids on it, and they'd be hooked fo...

Re: SCARBOROUGH - WHITBY CYCLE PATH

We've just moved over to Scarborough - http://thelangsett.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/the-move-part-1.html and http://thelangsett.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/the-move-part-2.html and the path runs right behind our house. I'm hoping to do the section from Scarborough up to Ravenscar on Sunday.

Re: SCARBOROUGH - WHITBY CYCLE PATH

Has anyone ridden this recently? I would say the section from Scalby up the hill to Ravenscar is / was the worst bit, and there were signs up saying that the path was going to be resurfaced. It was a diamond in the rough the last time I rode it. The view over Robin Hoods Bay from Ravenscar is the eq...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

The sun's peeking out here in beautiful Timperley, and I have just been flicking through the thread and getting EXTREMELY excited about DFR2. Lengthy negotiations with Mrs G have resulted in an extended pass out, which means I should be able to do the whole ride this year; DFR1 attendees might remeb...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

If it's the "old" Shimano pattern freewheel that you've got, I have the right freewheel removal tool (which I think is also the one that Stella's referring to). I'm in Manchester if you need to borrow it. :)

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Well seeing as the idea was out there I went ahead and created one http://app.strava.com/clubs/53227 , feel free to join up. It would be nice to see how others are getting along with their beloved Viscounts. Anyone manage to get out and enjoy the sun today? I planned to, got up nice and early all s...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

So, is anyone here doing the Eroica Britannia on a Viscount? I'd be up for a bit of that, particularly if a few other Viscounts are along for the ride. I tagged along to a wedding of one of Mrs Goldie's friends in Tuscany, just down the road from where the the Italian l'Eroica starts, and I spent t...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

My first Viscount was a tiny little racer like that one, except mine was in replica KP Crisps team livery - white with black decals. I was a (very lanky) eight, and mine had a sixteen inch frame too. In my case, zooming around on it planted the seed that led to me seeking out my Aerospace Pro a coup...
