Re: Tents for touring
I did two months in france, going well into the fall. I had a vango banshee 200 and it did me great the whole way. Not a complicated setup, quite light and compact. Dont remember what I paid, but I found it new from an online retailer for less than 100£.

Camping in France? Sites, sauvage or a la ferme?
In about a week I'll be crossing the channel and embarking on an open-ended cycle trip down through france.
I've tried to learn as much as possible from past posts, but I still have some questions about the various ways of camping.
Municipal Campsites: What are they like out of season? Are they simply unmanned or are they well-closed up? I've read somewhere that out of season they dont even bother collecting the fees. Basically I'll be travelling through september and october and many sites will be officially closed. Is it possible to use them when they're shut?
Camping a la ferme: in general how common are farms that have camping accomodation? I'll have to wait til arriving in france to get the official guide of them. Also, how likely is the average farmer to be ok with you sleeping a night on they land?
Wild Camaping:more of a last resort really. anyone care to share any general experiences?
All help appreciated!
