Re: Dawes Galaxy -v- Raleigh Randonneur

A very interesting thread. Im the  sad guy who recently had his 19 year old 57cm Randonneur stolen (Frame No. B16224). it was bought in May 1991. to confirm the colour is actually Gun Metal Grey with White head tube, gold paint lining on the lugs and and Raleigh head badge, and of course 531ST (Super Tourist) tube set. The best ever bicycle I owned. I'd like another one day, the sooner the better. I also have the 1 page flyer Product Information sheet on the Rando, so can quote the spec. The seat supplied was a Pre-softened Brooks Team Pro Copper and not the B17. It intrigues me as I have never used a B17 and would be interested in what the difference is in comparision. Back to the brake cable holder, I had to fix a similar problem on a Raleigh Royal it to has a V shaped clamp to fit with the chrome Raleigh Red Seat Pin. The randonneur having a much smaller one as described in the earlier post. I remember when I bought the Randonneur I had a hard time choosing between the Dawes Galaxy and the Randonneur, I just liked the style of the Randonneur.

A rando hunting I shall go.

All the best,
Mark.

Stolen - Raleigh Randonneur Gun Metal Grey/White

Stolen in Guernsey, Channel Islands (31 July 2010). An orginal 1991 Raleigh Randonneur in Gun Metal Grey with White headstem, all original parts except the rear wheel (I'd had a puncture and replaced the wheel temporary, to repair, so still have one Mavic M3CD Hard anodised rim :P ).

Frame No. W B16224

57cm frame set, Brooks Honey pro (pre-softenned) saddle, Jum Blackburn front and rear pannier set etc, mudgards were shortened otherwise as per manufactures specs.

if ever found a reward will be paid for its return, i'd managed to keep it for 19years....

Mark. (Randonneur63).
