We’ve contacted more than a hundred long-distance cyclists to ask them for their 3 favourite / best bicycle touring destinations. It’s turned into quite a list, with some surprising countries mentioned. Via the links on the list you can also visit the cyclist’s websites and read about their trips.

Re: Travelling in India
I agree with the others recommendation that the South would be much more fun for a first tour in India.
Our favorite state for cycling has to be Tamil Nadu due to the fact that there are so many back roads with very little traffic on them.
Kerala has a more tropical feel to it and better scenery but there was more traffic to contend with and many of the roads in that state had almost no shoulder.
On our website, we have quite an extensive section on cycling in India. It might help you decide which region you wish to cycle through. https://impressions.bicyclingaroundthew ... india-map/

Cycling the Leh - Manali highway in North India
Last summer we were finally able to cycle the Leh-Manali highway in Northern India and it was fantastic! O.k., there are a couple of negative points to bicycling there such as boring food, loss of breath at high altitude and army truck traffic, but still the scenery made up for all of that. Below are some pictures from the trip and we also posted an information on the route at: http://travellingtwo.com/himalayan-bike ... -to-manili
Shey palace, Leh
Statue in Thiksey monastery.
Cycling over the Baralacha La pass.
Wild camping near the highway.
Heading towards the Rohtang.

Re: Morocco
How about starting in late summer and cycling there from England. By that time it will have cooled down in Morocco yet you can still bike over the Atlas Mountains.

Re: Working while cycle touring
You might also try posting this question on the “LP thorn tree on your bike” forum http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/f ... forumID=32 since a number of LP forum members are on long distance trips and regularly write and post blog updates from their tent. So they probably know more about the problems you will have keeping your laptop charged while on a camping / bicycle trip.
We have found it easy to work on our computers while on the road, but then again we are touring Asia and staying in cheap hotels. So we don’t have to worry about recharging our laptops.
As for protecting our laptops – we carry them in padded cases inside of a dry bag.

Re: New to touring. Need some advice!
Hi Slondon,
You might want to read Travelling Two’s book “Bike touring Basics”. The e-book covers the basics and can be downloaded for free after you sign up for their monthly newsletter here: http://travellingtwo.com/shop/ebooks/biketouringbasics . (Of course if you decide you don’t want to receive their newsletter, you can always ‘unsubscribe’ after receiving the first one.)
The other posters are right that there is no “right way” to go cycle touring, but then again the more you know about cycle touring, the easier it is to ask specific questions concerning your future trip.
