Re: Campsite on the Gower Peninsula

I would recommend Port Eynon campsite, its right on the beach and if my memory is correct its called Hillend. I stayed there two years ago and its got everything you could need. There are some pubs and a cafe in the village which is a minutes walk. To be honest over the years I've stayed at lots of ...

Re: My first time being hit by a car today! Advice appreciat

I've had a couple of similar incidents over the years. At junctions, low speed, and one was with a car driven by an old man who did not appear to completely with it. At least this sort of accident tends to result in minor injuries. It sounds like you have what you need to proceed with a compensatio...

Re: My first time being hit by a car today! Advice appreciat

so I am almost starting to feel that I somehow contributed to my own misfortune today! What you have to do now is question the "Made eye contact thought". Would it have made any difference in the space and time you had to react. To me the answer would be almost certainly not as you would ...

Re: My first time being hit by a car today! Advice appreciat

Cripes. Glad you are ok. Reason 41 why I don't demonise young drivers. Elderly ones are tricky. I was hit by an old chap on a roundabout years back in the City in London. Your accident is an almost carbon copy of an accident I had when I was 17. I was on a motorbike which eventually ended up in a r...

My first time being hit by a car today! Advice appreciated.

Cycling straight on through a set of traffic lights on a city centre dual carriageway at approximately 20 mph (in secondary position) I was taken out by a car coming from the opposite direction and turning right in front of me. I saw the car start to turn, but it all happened so quickly all I could ...

Re: Do we need teachers

So much for education, education, education in the Blair regime. Here in Wales our education results are some of the worst in Europe, so perhaps it will take a while to reverse years of dumbing down and falling standards in education?

Re: 101 Police Number Useless?

Thank you for the replies. A Headcam will be my next purchase and I won't waste my time anymore over this, which I guess is just a sign of the times. Like the people in the van I was only trying to get home in one piece!

101 Police Number Useless?

Went to my local police station (very large building) to report a dangerous incident on my ride home yesterday afternoon to find that it is no longer open to the public. Thats changed in the last 5 or 6 years since I was last there, Oh well! I then got home and phoned the 101 number to report the fo...

Re: Enlightened Judge

Apart from this, the defendant's job probably reduced the sentencing options open to the judge eg some sort of community service (whatever they now call it) which is the next step down after custody, isn't compatible with things like being deployed abroad at short notice. Soldiers are subject to th...

Re: RIP school kids in Connecticut

A terrible and sad tragedy, but perhaps another perspective about the USA and guns should be seen from near the bottom of this article. http://synonblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/12/connecticut-killings-its-the-shooter-not-the-guns.html Other articles I have read in relation to this tragedy have made str...

Gosh, where have i been all my life! There are so many films mentioned that I have never even heard of and it seems i have been missing out! :) Now, if we are going to go down the top 3 by genre route this could turn out to be a very long post with lots of replies. I note that some people prefer boo...
