So long ... and thanks for all the fish!

I'm spending too much time on cycling forums and one has to go. Unfortunately it's this one (I'm not really doing too many CTC rides at the moment).

So, with thanks for all the help, advice, entertainment and on-line companionships given to me since I joined, this is yours truly signing off.

Ice Toolz 11F3 external bracket tool ...?

This fits my Hollowtech II bracket cups ... does it also fit the cups for a Campag Ultra-Torque chainset? TIA

I'd just change the user name for an easy life.

Re: Should I make this old MTB into touring bike.

Yes, should be fine.

My CTC bike is based on a Marin Pine Mountain MTB with rigid forks and 26-inch wheels. Now shed with Schwalbe Durano 1.3 tyres (less than a tenner each from Planet X) and a Deore 48/36/26 chainset, it has full mudguards and even a set of fittings if I should ever fancy some panniers or a rack.

My CTC mate 'Dangerous' Dave from Thames Valley actually specified a 26-inch Thorn when he ordered it. :D

Re: 50 Greatest bikes of all time - Cycling Weekly

I'm quite surprised to learn that Martin Pyne's gull-wing low profile isn't in there.

Not sure if Steve Hegg's 1980 Olympic gold medal pursuit bike is in there ....? I know the Burrows/Lotus superbike that did the same thing 8 years later is.

Re: Some lower gears

A nice Stronglight Impact chainset with a 110mm BCD will allow a 34T inner ring. :D IIRC, Spa Cycles are practically throwing the cranks away at about £30 a pair.

Re: Fixed cup -bottom bracket advice

I did have a really nasty one a year or so ago. I have a 3/4-inch breaker bar and had to resort to Dremelling out a 3/4-inch square hole into the cup and then giving it some Schwarzenegger. I did get it out but such was the force needed that when trying to fit a new one, I found that I had bent the bottom bracket shell, thus knadgering the frame .... GRRRR!

+1 for Laura. Her 'Devil' technique reminds me so much of what Peter Post used to do with the field during the Skol Sixes many moons ago. A great lass.

Re: Hoy! What a finish!

I'll make the selectors job easy for them!

Give Jason Kenny the sprint role and give Sir Chris the keirin. Obviously both for the team sprint.

CH is a superman in the sprint but a demi-God in the keirin :!:

Re: Unnoticable Helmet Suggestion Please

My early 1990s Specialized Sub Zero helmet is very quiet. As opposed to today's modern ones with about 36 holes, mine has only 8.

Re: Disc built wheels on a non disc bike

My hybrid has disc wheels (centre-lock with covers over them) but I use V-brakes - no problems at all providing that the rims have a braking surface as well.

Idi Amin was more cheerful than Alan when he was in the Kilburn shop! However, I did once get a smile from him when I got back 20p in change and put it in the Welwyn Wheelers track fund box. :D
