Re: C2W new Guidlines

We've had a quite a bit of stuff come into the shop's email on this subject in the last few days - although I've been away and haven't yet got fully up to speed with it. My understandng at the moment is that "FCA approved" is the key to it all with the provider service having to be in effe...

Re: Pannier racks for 27.5+ boost spacing MTB

I'd be surprised if a bog standard rack didn't work - I've fitted loads, together with mudguards, to this electric bike in my shop - it has fat tyres and disc brakes. The rack and guards need just a slight modification with the mounting bolts to clear the callipers on the nearside. https://www.rouxb...

Re: Finding new transfers / decals for my James Harrison

Try http://www.hlloydcycles.com - but website doesn't always load - or https://h-lloyd-cycles.myshopify.com/ - ditto - or https://www.facebook.com/hlloydcycles/ The original business (Nick Lloyd) was taken over by someone in Loughton, Essex 3 or 4 years ago - dunno if it's still going. Nick was THE ...

Re: Mavis's Land's End to John O'Groats (Garmin help please?)

Sorry to disappoint but at least one female older than 81 has ridden the ride - the details are somewhere in one of the journals at www.cycle-endtoend.org.uk (and IIRC the male record is about 95)

Re: VAN NICHOLAS YUKON AUDAX 52 CM. PRICE DROP!!

I think the VN welds issue was solved before 2009 (the age of the bike) .... and VN has a "lifetime guarantee" on frames - not sure if that's transferable? [I think it is as I bought a s/h Ventus frame and registered it with VN, along with my Yukon bought new]

Dawes Audax Giro 600 - size 57cm

Dawes Audax Giro 600 - size 57cm (axle - seat clamp) One of the last Dawes bikes with the frame actually built in the UK - mid 1990s. I bought the machine from an enthusiast about 8 years ago and loved riding every mile on it. It's in very good condition and just serviced at the LBS. Reynolds 531 Co...

Re: Suitable towbar bike carrier for electric bike?

Towbar mounted carriers are a definite step up from strap-on racks in general. In a big way,I've seen some real accidents waiting to happen on the motorways and one that actually did,not a pretty sight  Yep - and with more and more cars having plastic spoilers over the rear window you can st...

Re: C2C Sunderland or Tynemouth for return by rail?

I'd opt for Tynemouth as the bit through Newcastle along the quayside - with the bridges, Sage, the flour mill art gallery etc - is better than the rather dull route into Sunderland that I took ... the "big landmark" was the football stadium. Tynemouth is quite quaint for that part of the ...

Re: Another thread about hard tyres to fit and tyre levers

I use these in an LBS - unless just fingers will do the job: Taking them off - Oxford Products plastic coated, steel core (or Park have an expensive equivalent that's a bit longer for more leverage): http://www.oxfordproducts.com/graphics_cache/f/b/9272-tl139-1--.jpg Putting them back on https://www...

Re: Canal Route Earlswood-Stratford - Towpath Surface

.gpx sent a few minutes ago for a cycle friendly route from Red Lion at Earlswood to Stratford Marina. I would avoid the canal idea completely - today I was cajoled by a friend to ride from the aqueduct near Bearley to Stratford along the canal - the first section to Wilmcote was like a cyclo-cross ...

Re: Bar Bag Klickfix thingy

I've been using Altura barbags with R&K mounts for years - I've just bought an Ortlieb bag and thought the mount was awful - I've just stuck with the R&K mounts that work perfectly with the Ortlieb to transfer from bike to bike.. ... and if you break or lose the cable a bit of brake cable in...

Re: Looking for an E-bike

Second-hand pre-loved bikes might be worth looking at, some people find they cannae get along with e-bikes You could wait till the end of the season to get a discount I would steer well-clear of a secondhand ebike - you don't know how the battery has been treated and replacement could be 30% of the...

Re: Velo Midlands

I endorse the comments made in this thread BUT I've heard lots of reports and experiences this week from Velo riders saying that the "closed road" situation provoked reckless cycling from a minority of TdeF wannabees - annoying and potentially dangerous for the average participant.
