Re: flying to USA with bike. which airline pls? BA, United or Virgin?

We’ve flown our bikes three times to the USA with Virgin, and once with BA to South Korea. With the BA flight my husband bike box arrived pretty beat up and his rear mudguard had suffered some damage where it was ripped off the rivets, also his crank arm was sticking out of the box.
No problems at all on the Virgin flights, and I generally feel they were more professional, which made me feel more confident that the bikes would arrive unscathed. Virgin would always be my number one first choice for long haul with bikes if available

Re: Chinese Lightweight 1 person Tent

Sorry my mistake the EBay listing is for the 2 person double door tent but it is the same company ‘desert walker’and therefore it is still very lightweight and very cheap. It may not be as good quality as the high end tents you can get but it would only be for occasional use, it would be nice to find someone who has actually bought and used a tent by this company

Re: Chinese Lightweight 1 person Tent

There are no you tube reviews of this tent

The Hubba NX Solo and this tent are no where near in price

The cheapest available hubba NX solo in the U.K. is £289, the Chinese version is £103, I know you only get what you pay for, but I was just asking if anyone had any experience of using this tent

Hi Hercule

Your new scooter looks the bees knees, glad your first ride went well. Its a couple of months since I got my scooter and now I don’t even think about switching feet. Yes it does ground out on the slightest bump but I have learnt to anticipate this and go around things. I’m sure your going to get on fine!

Re: ... about kickbikes?

Hi Hercule

You will not regret your decision, I love my Yedoo Trexx. Yes there are lots of people doing amazing tours on scooter, I hope to get a front rack for mine at some point as I’d like to do a few overnighters. A scooter could never replace a bike especially as I love my Recumbent bike so much, but it gives you another option for different situations.

I hope you have ordered from Ondrej at Op Scooters, he’s a great guy, Ondrej and his girlfriend even drove to our house in Kent one Saturday with four scooters to try, we all took them over the park for a spin.

Make sure to post a photo on here I would love to see your scooter

All the best

Julie

Re: ... about kickbikes?

Hercule we were able to try several different models of Scooters including Morxes, Mibo, and Kostka.
I chose the Yedoo Trexx because it is made of aluminium and therefore it is lighter and seemed to roll more easily. Also the underside of the scooter does ground out sometimes and as it is aluminium it won’t go rusty. Footplate has two positions so can be raised for rougher terrain. My hubby wanted a faster ride so he chose the wolfer and he’s happy with it. I have therefore tried both and I prefer mine the Yedoo Trexx. As a fitness aid it’s fantastic and great fun, and for myself it is much more enjoyable than running.

Re: ... about kickbikes?

My hubby and I have recently purchased Kick Bikes. I have a Yedoo Trexx, and my hubby a Yedoo Wolfer (racing model), Yedoos are made by a Czech company where kick biking is very popular. There are many different models available, with different wheel sizes and also folding ones.
With the front wheels removed they fit in our small car easily and so are great for exploring new cities, tow paths, large parks etc. The large front wheels enable the scooters to roll easily and they are light enough that you can pick them up and carry them if needed eg. down steps
They are really good fun and generate lots of smiles from the public.
The ride is harder work than cycling so they are great for fitness. We live close to a large park with varied terrain, I can do a 3 mile circuit of the park and be home in 30 minutes. We plan on using them for fitness in the winter when it is too cold to cycle.
I love mine and highly recommend it. If anyone is interested in them speak to Ondreij at Op Scooters https://www.opscooters.com

Re: Recumbents on planes?

We've flown with our recumbents several times.

We use two bike boxes for each recumbent and concertina them together to get them the right size, then lots of tape to hold them together. My long wheel base recumbent is particularly challenging as we have to remove the front forks, but we've always managed ok.

PDQ Mobile wrote Yes tell us if it's quick. Please

The tandem is very stable and easy to handle at slow speeds uphill. As for quickness, well that largely depends on how hard you pedal it :D, but it seems pretty efficient on the flat, and downhill it's like a rocket! We love it
