Re: 13-32 Sunrace 'cassette' info

But it is a great ratio which would be very useful in a cassette.

No, there not very much dish compared to the rear wheel.

Re: Shimergo - latest news

FWIW I agree that sticking with 3x10s seems a sensible thing to do. Even more sensible for many users would be to ditch the smallest sprocket, use a shorter freehub body so that the wheel can be built with reduced dish etc. 3x9 is more than enough gears for most folk, and if it comes with lighter/s...

Re: Interupter brake levers

they are mostly for caliper brakes (eg older DPs). It used to be that you could get a model suitable for V brakes, but this doesn't seem to be available any more. cheers Indeed Tektro seems to have stopped producing their RL740 with longer cable pull. These can be adjusted and should work with V-br...

Re: Combined spd pedals.

I like the Shimano PD-T421. Easy to clip in and out of, serviceable bearings, built-in reflectors. The platform is sticky enough for me, but without metal pins digging into your soles. I had som cheaper ones previously (maybe Exustar), but the bearings couldn't be greased so they didn't last. If mon...

I have a Herrmans that I like. This newer model seems very well reviewed at Rose, saying it rivals all B&M's up to 100 Euro.

Re: A kickstand has killed my touring bike...

However, that probably means that they build their bikes without stand plates, which makes them much less practical for touring because it would be difficult to park it in busier bits of countries like Denmark. Where there are stands, they're often ones that expect you to put the bike on a centre s...

Re: Genesis Vagabond

Regarding disc size, I recently changed to 180mm from 160mm on a set of Road BB7's. Braking has improved. Not night and day, but definitely better. The fork needs to have clearance for it.

Re: help: which cassette/chain

If you need the 32 tooth bottom gear, I would consider getting a 12-32 tooth cassette (CS-HG200) instead. You will loose your top gear, but will have closer ratios between the other gear. If you have a 48 chainring in front (I think you do), 48-12 should be a high enough gear for that kind of bike a...

Schwalbe Shredda 50-507, if you can find them. Production has halted, I think, but a very fast tyre.

Re: Upgrade from 10 speed to 11 Giant Defy Adv 2 2012

As graham says, the shifter needs to be indexed for the correct number of gears. So you need to change the most expensive component of your bike (except frame). Also, an 11 speed cassette will not fit an 8, 9, 10-speed freehub. So you need a new freehub, maybe new wheels. Look for the gearing you se...

I am running an 8-speed rear Shimano cassette with a 9-speed MTB Shimano RD. The right shifter is a 10 speed Ultrashift model year 09-10. Works brilliantly.
