Re: A kickstand has killed my touring bike...

However, that probably means that they build their bikes without stand plates, which makes them much less practical for touring because it would be difficult to park it in busier bits of countries like Denmark. Where there are stands, they're often ones that expect you to put the bike on a centre s...

Re: Genesis Vagabond

Regarding disc size, I recently changed to 180mm from 160mm on a set of Road BB7's. Braking has improved. Not night and day, but definitely better. The fork needs to have clearance for it.

Re: help: which cassette/chain

If you need the 32 tooth bottom gear, I would consider getting a 12-32 tooth cassette (CS-HG200) instead. You will loose your top gear, but will have closer ratios between the other gear. If you have a 48 chainring in front (I think you do), 48-12 should be a high enough gear for that kind of bike a...

Schwalbe Shredda 50-507, if you can find them. Production has halted, I think, but a very fast tyre.

Re: Upgrade from 10 speed to 11 Giant Defy Adv 2 2012

As graham says, the shifter needs to be indexed for the correct number of gears. So you need to change the most expensive component of your bike (except frame). Also, an 11 speed cassette will not fit an 8, 9, 10-speed freehub. So you need a new freehub, maybe new wheels. Look for the gearing you se...

If you have a roof, I have found this variety to be quite useful: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cycle-roof-l ... 2428879762

I am running an 8-speed rear Shimano cassette with a 9-speed MTB Shimano RD. The right shifter is a 10 speed Ultrashift model year 09-10. Works brilliantly.

Most roads were plowed more than this, so I managed to do some actual cycling.

Re: Chainring & f mech compatibility

You don't have the issue with the cage fouling the middle ring when you are on the outer ring with a double front mech. So it should work, but I can't tell you I have done it.

Re: Sti lever front derailleur downshift issues

If I read you correctly, this is just how Campagnolo PowerShift works for the FD. You can only trim going upwards/towards bigger gears. When you go down, you jump chainrings.

Re: Disc brakes

I am running Campagnolo Ergopower with Avid BB7 Road. Be careful with the first setup and the performance is fine. There isn't very much adjustment or maintenance to do.
