Re: LEJOG Advice?
I did an unsupported LEJOG in 2008 with my lovely wife, following the CTC Youth Hostel route. We took Ridgeback Panoramas fitted with Schwalbe Marathon Plus 35c tyres. The bikes performed admirably well and we didn't get a single puncture. The route covered just under 1,000 miles and we took a leisu...

Re: Blackburn Rack + Ortlieb Compatibility?
Thanks Fred. So the shark's tooth at the bottom of the pannier does engage with the rack then, once adjusted?

Re: Blackburn Rack + Ortlieb Compatibility?
My wife and I also own a Ridgeback Panoramas, which I bought back in 2008. They have the same Blackburn racks but I took off the front Lowriders as soon as I got the bikes home as I wasn't intending to ever use them. So far all of our full camping touring has been done with just rear panniers and I ...

Re: Rack light bracket
Ash28, I had already considered this fixing but dismissed it because I thought the rearmost clamp wouldn't manage to fit to the double rod. However, I see from your photo that it does. Did you have any problem with this?
CJ, I'm impressed, it does indeed look very neat.

Re: Rack light bracket
Edwards,
That's a really good idea. I assume you mean these strips from Halfords?
Have you tried this? Are they strong enough? ie. Not too maluable? Are you able to upload a photo?

Re: Rack light bracket
Thanks Robgul. Seems like a workable solution although it's all a bit of a palaver isn't it, just to get a light fitted on the back of rack. BigG, I see what you mean. It's a very short run width wise and the rods themselves shouldn't be effected structurally. However, I was worrying in relation to ...

Re: Rack light bracket
Thank you to all. Pherron. I like the idea of the drilling but of course I'm worried about effecting the structural and load bearing integrity of the rack. I carry everything on the back end as I don't use front panniers, so there's a heavy load to haul. I would imagine the warranty on the rack woul...

Rack light bracket
My tourer is fitted with a Blackburn EX2 rear rack. I'd like to mount a traditional rack light on the rear edge of this rack, one of the types with a built in reflector and two bolts that fix onto a flat plate on the rack. Here lies the problem. Blackburn haven't built any such plate onto their rack...

Re: Hilleberg Nallo 2/3GT
That'll ding-dang-do for me. Thanks guys. I've just ordered a Nallo 3GT and the footprint to go with it from 'Taunton Leisure.' Good price, £620 all in with free postage. I know that's still hugely expensive but when you consider the RRP stipulated by Hilleberg for the tent alone is £665 and then a ...

Re: Hilleberg Nallo 2/3GT
Yes, thanks for your replies everyone. My faith is renewed. It seems the answer is definitely in the way you pitch the tent. Although Hilleberg boast it can be pitched with just four pegs, I think that if you want to be able to sleep at night you need to peg the guy lines and other anchor points out...

Slowpeddler, you mention meths being on sale in all French Supermarkets. I've never seen any but then I wouldn't know what to ask for. What's the French for meths, do you know?

Hilleberg Nallo 2/3GT
To all Nallo GT owners: Is your tent noisy with the wind at night, at least more so than others? I had intended to buy a 3 GT for touring in France next year with the wife but I've seen a couple of reviews where owners have complained about the noise of the tent flapping in only moderate winds and k...
