The boot up time on my eTrex30 varies between almost "instant" and "forever", with no logical reason why it should vary so much. At least, no logic that I can see. Sometimes I give up waiting and just pull the batteries and and put them back in again, whereupon it starts faster than it was(n't).
I like the kit, but it does have some annoying foibles.
