Re: Leaky Prestas - What do others do?

Thanks all, very helpful. It seems I'm not alone but that I can also "nip" the cores up a bit tighter or use a bit of sealant or indeed go for tubes with non removable cores. Once again - Thanks to all.

Re: Leaky Prestas - What do others do?

Thanks Brucey & jezer. I too suspect a lowering of standards/quality but I'm always very apprehensive when cranking the pliers around the outside of the threaded barrel.

Leaky Prestas - What do others do?

Oh great wise crowd...here's one for you:- I seem to have had an "outbreak" of leaky Presta cores for some reason. As I was "swapping" cores with another tube (which often seems to solve the problem - should I be tweaking then gently with pliers to nip them up by the way?) I was ...

Front Mech Madness....Help!

Dear all knowing crowd......please help. I'm having trouble with a front mech and the "bloke down the pub" can't help and I've watched all the "Expert Village Dart Carm" videos presented by young men with Armish beards, rearward facing baseball caps and trousers that need pulling...

Re: Ridgeback Panorama - Poor Brakes - Modify?

Thanks to all contributors to this thread. I am pleased to report a "Happy Ending" thanks to the tip given by "johnb". I was able to try out and have now fitted "Kool Stop" assemblies with the canti's as they are and the whole set up is not much more "confidence in...

Re: Continental Contact Vs Schwalbe Marathon Plus

Marathon Plus in my view......they are very heavy but in the time I have been running mine I have pulled all kinds of objects from the tread that would have shredded any lesser tyres in an instant. I'm not saying they are faultless, nothing is....and you can just be plain unlucky but I continue to b...

Re: Sick of punctures

Agree with all previous posters. I have Marathon +'s on a Tourer and can happily tackle anything that most others I know use an MTB for. Knobbly tyres are only really any use in mud or some very loose surfaces. Slime is horrible stuff and will add a lot of weight to your wheels...don't do it! Enjoy ...

Re: Ridgeback Panorama - Poor Brakes - Modify?

Many thanks to all who have responded. I have lots of pointers to follow up on and it seems there are a lot of things to try before considering a more drastic course of action like discs....even if it were possible.

Eternally grateful to you all.

Ridgeback Panorama - Poor Brakes - Modify?

Dear Crowd - Once again I appeal to your communal intellect & experience - please be gentle. I have owned a Ridgeback Panorama for the last 18 months and undertaken some fairly serious touring mileages (C2C, Way of the Roses, etc) carrying all my gear in rear mounted Ortlieb Panniers & bar b...

Re: Ortlieb bar bag mounts

I'd second 531 Colin's opinion. I too was unsure when I first received mine but actually the fixing mechanism is very solid indeed and i reckon I have probably regularly exceeded the prescribed maximum loading for the bag. It hasn't moved a millimetre. Don't worry! :)

Thanks Pherron, most interesting. Certainly agree about the "look" of the levers.
