No 12 circlip for Sturmey Archer

I've read Sturmey Archer overhaul instructions which say you should replace the circlips which are to the left of the planet cage after they have been taken off. Last week I had a wheel become loose and it turned out that the number 12 circlip, the smaller one of the two, had come off the axle. I battered it back into shape with a pair of Mole grips and ruddy ignorance. It seems to work OK now but it would be nice if I could find a supply of this small part somewhere.

S-A list it as HSL899 C-clip No.12.

Is this a standard size circlip which I could get in a motor factor?

As an aside my X-RD5(W) is working much better now I've fitted the metal trigger. The plastic lever doesn't hold well in 1st and if you try pulling the indicator you can feel how much tension there is on the cable in low gear.

Sturmey-Archer SLW5N R5 not holding in 1st

I've got a Pashley with the SA wide range 5 speed hub and the SLW5N R5 shifter lever. Mostly it's great but the lever doesn't hold down in 1st gear. I've tried re-adjusting the cable but this doesn't seem to help. Is it possible to increase the stickyness of the lever?
