Cycle logo

Does anyone remember the introduction of the "Cycle" logo some years ago? The little blue and yellow symbol that owed quite a lot to the old "Cyclo" trade mark and which threatened to displace the old Winged Wheel. And how the management team justified it by saying we needed to b...

Re: Cycle tracks/paths - right of way at junctions

I note the many responses, and it seems to me that most envisage the problems arising with traffic leaving the side road as it enters the main road. The problem I fear is the traffic turning into the side road from the main road, from behind the moving cyclist. I know it happens that even when both ...

CTC DA Anniversaries

Can anyone please tell me which DA celebrated 75 years in 1974, and issued some sort of commemorative?

Cycle tracks/paths - right of way at junctions

I cannot find anything about this in the Highway code. As a young man (some 40 years ago), I believed it was the case that a pedestrian on a footway parallel and adjacent to the road had precedence over a vehicle crossing the line of the footway (i.e. making a left or right turn) and that the vehicl...

Helmet safety standards

I have never worn a helmet in over 50 years of cycling, except the old-fashioned racing helmet required for circuits and track events when I was racing over 40 years ago. Nevertheless, I keep an eye on developments, and occasionally examine one on sale. I believe the current position is that there i...
