Re: Greater Manchester to get huge increase in infrastructure

Has Bolton council got an active travel forum?

RMBC appear to think this isn’t really their problem, and want it to be run by a third party… which then means they won’t engage.

Salford seems to be really going for it, thought.

Breakdown/recovery service?

Saw a flyer for this in the LBS. Something like £15/year and will collect if you are >1 mile from home.

Does anyone here use and have any experience of how it works? Is it worth the money?

Yellow sunnies?

As the the winter nears and we get closer to lights-at-1100 season, I was wondering if there’s any benefit in yellow tinted sunnies for the winter gloom? I’d read somewhere that they’re supposed to improve contrast etc?

Re: Greater Manchester to get huge increase in infrastructure

FPTP mitigates against that, especially in Greater Manchester (it wasn't that long ago that 96/97 Manchester City councillors were Lab from 60% of the vote, and the one that wasn't had been kicked out of Lab for misconduct). In the meantime if we can shift even a proportion of the short range journe...

Re: Greater Manchester to get huge increase in infrastructure

I agree, the RMBC reliance on the canal is a case in point - fine for a Saturday afternoon pootle, but badly surfaced, narrow, shared use and with low bridges…

Re: Greater Manchester to get huge increase in infrastructure

And then, today, we have this:

Resolution not the best, and timeframe unclear, but it’s progress.

I’d suggest anyone else in HMR writes to their councillor asking when we can have an official cycling forum…

Greater Manchester to get huge increase in infrastructure

… but not if you live in Rochdale. Linky

Anyone else living in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale annoyed about the council’s complete lack of vision?

Re: Record attempt scheduled

When I've spoken to army personnel that I met they all say the same thing, that you are normally supported in doing anything sports wise like this. Not just the army; one of the Underwood brothers was nominally a Crab Air pilot, but allegedly wasn't allowed to fly anything solo as he didn't do enou...
