Re: How should spokes sit in nipples to be right?

Sorry. The nipple came out. The nipple lost its shoulder, hope that's the right term. Basically it failed at the wider part that's under the rim tape and broke in two allowing the rest of the nipple to come through the eyelet.

Re: How should spokes sit in nipples to be right?

Sure. I've been experimenting with extra dynamo rear lights. This is my dynamo hub wheel. With some extra rear lights roughly wired up I lifted the front wheel of the floor, put two fingers around a spoke at the nipple, and spun the wheel. It wasn't a hard spin but the spoke pulled out of the rim. I...

Re: How should spokes sit in nipples to be right?

Thanks for your oppinions. There are no threads showing on the other side. Yes they are 12mm nipples. It was at my LBS as although it has done less than 100 easy miles, a nipple was pulled through the rim. The suggestion was that this may well happen again.

How should spokes sit in nipples to be right?

Hi. I just brought my wheel back from the LBS who didn't seem to like my wheel at all. Hopefully I have successfully added a photo of the spoke in the nipple. What do you think of it please?

Re: Front and two rear lights from one dynamo?

This is all great news. I'm going to do it for sure. Just one question left... I having problems with my dynamo hub wheel build again so might need another. I think I remember that there is a difference in the polarity? or something between Shimano and SON. Is this true or will swapping the hub make...

Specialized Pizza Rack £5 off for those interested.

In the latest Cycle magazine the above rack is reviewed by Dan Joyce. I think it's just what I have been looking for. A large top area with pannier capacity, provided the listed issues don't effect you. When I was purchasing at Rutland just now SAVE5 came up as a promo code making it £48 with free p...

Re: Bike frame price increase after order placed and paid for legal?

That's it then. Thank you for finding the very precise small print. Leaves nothing in question. I'll not again think I have something just because I have found the deal I was hoping for and paid my money. Perhaps this is an example of the "just in time" delivery/manufacturing system that h...

Re: Front and two rear lights from one dynamo?

I surprised this is not more common knowledge. Why not have a second rear light? Perhaps it is and I'm just not very knowledgeable. Perhaps the extra output reduces the life span of the dynamo?

Re: Bike frame price increase after order placed and paid for legal?

Thanks for the Ison link. It shows that the Big Dummy Black size 16 is now special order. They have offered me my money back (cancel order) but I was hoping to still get the frame for the £800 it was advertised and paid for. I'll talk to Triton Cycles and see if I can get them to honour the original...

Re: Front and two rear lights from one dynamo?

That's great news. Thought I might brake something. I do have a toplight line brake version that does have two sets of connectors. But I using the mini line rear lights that are just the 50mm mount with a small LED in the middle. Screenshot_20191004-180119_Chrome.jpg As these don't have double conne...

Re: Front and two rear lights from one dynamo?

All three lights seem to be working perfectly, at least as much as I can tell from spinning the dynamo hub wheel by hand in a dark room. If I actually rode it though for a decent distance am I going to break something?

Front and two rear lights from one dynamo?

Hi. I have a Shimano dynamo hub from which I have been running a B+M Cyo T and a rear light. I would like to try and run a second rear light at the same time. I have no idea what this may do. I'm guessing that underpowering won't damage them and I already have them. Unless I really shouldn't experim...

Re: Bike frame price increase after order placed and paid for legal?

It was £800 yesterday. They took the money yesterday. Now they say they have to order it from the US though it was shown as in stock at the time of order. They say Surly have put the price up to £999. It was already £999 original price, they showed it as £200 off when I ordered it. The 5% off to £94...

Bike frame price increase after order placed and paid for legal?

Hi I recently (yesterday) ordered a frameset from a fairly large company here in the UK. It was showing as in stock along with the other two items I ordered. Got an email late yesterday saying the two smaller items were out of stock and the frame would take up to 4 weeks to get from the States. Did ...
