Re: The most countries in one day?

I seem to remember Steve Gill (he of the beard) ticking off four western European countries in a single day. Details elude me however.

Re: Does Orbit exist? Advice PLEASE

Now you mention it - yes, they do seem to have. Does anyone know any background to that?[/quote] Thorn supplied a bike with the description ''the best bike ever- period.'' Or words to that effect. Chris found faults to that claim regarding construction of the frame and how components were fitted. C...

Re: Does Orbit exist? Advice PLEASE

My understanding is that JD bought the Orbit brand, but only for tandems. I think that was when Orbit were in difficulty, a chap called Simon Gershon owned it? That's the one. I remember a verbal punch-up in the magazine between Simon and Chris Judan about a test bike being badly out of alignment. ...

Re: Isle of Wight Ferries - info needed

As posted already, a 2am sailing will get you a fare of around £20 each way. I never saw a ferry/camping deal while researching for a weeks trip last year. And yes, there's plenty for a weeks cycling!

But only if you have to. One of the few books I've been unable to finish.
It was downhill after her first two books IMHO.

Air horns

Many moons ago I read a review for a small air horn for use on bikes. This consisted of a small CO2 cartridge, the attachment to make the sound and a small u-shaped trigger to activate it. The great thing was it fitted inside the end of a straight mtb-type handlebar in place of the end plug, with ju...

The Contour HD without GPS is now discontinued and can be picked up for around £120. This contrasts with £285.00 for the GPS version. http://www.amazon.co.uk/VholdR-ContourHD-1080P-Helmet-Camera/dp/B002QGSYZ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321264918&sr=8-1 http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mainprodu...

Re: 4yr old riding bike, accused of scratching neighbours car

PS About 6 months later, father (a builder) turned up, out of the blue, at my business unit prospecting for work, karma! I had a guy cut me up on the access road into the Hospital and then presented himself an hour later for a Barium Enema - his face on recognising me was a picture. I was ver...

Re: 4yr old riding bike, accused of scratching neighbours car

I was under the impression that it was wheel size that determined whether a bike was 'legal' or 'illegal' to ride on the pavement, 20" and under being okay. I doubt a 4 year old would have wheels bigger than this. Absolutely the right thing to involve the police and do carry on logging each and...

I remember a complaint to a newspaper about this very issue. They responded belittling the complaintant saying, among other things, that he was 'being pedantic.' It's the usual case of 'four wheels good' and two wheels (or legs) bad... :x

Congrats. on that, Porky. Great feeling, isn't it!
My first 100 was a reliability ride over 30 years ago and I can still remember the elation now! Wasn't there provision for doing the 100 in 8, 9 or 10 hours?
