Re: Touring lights

I have just bought a Lezyne Powerdrive (in addition to my B&M IQ Cyo). It uses the same rechargeable battery as the Pedalpower+. A pair of spare batteries imported from Honk Kong cost £9 including delivery (a bit better than Lezyne price of £28 for one). I can start with 4 fully charged batteries, charge them all from either the dynamo or the one mains charger, and they can be used to charge GPS/phone/Kindle etc.

On the rear I use a Cateye reflex TL LD570 - it has a legal reflector and its visibilty is stunning.

Re: SAT NAVS FOR CYCLE TOURING

Does anyone have experience of the MemoryMap Adventurer 2800? These are on offer at the moment and include full UK OS Maps at 1:50000.

Re: Best Air Mattress

I use a Pacific Outdoor Ether Thermo 6. It is quite narrow but this does not cause me any problems, it is surprisingly comfortable. It is vey well insulated, and packs very small.

Re: Carrying Meths

Again, thank you all for the helpful information. For my first trip I will take the mini Trangia with a home made windshield, and use a proper Trangia 1l bottle with the Topeak adjustable bottle cage. I really don't want to keep meths in a pannier. If go for longer touring I am fairly sure I will get Tragia 27.

Re: Carrying Meths

"I have just bought a mini T - any advice for using it first time out?
Thanks "

Yes - don't do what I did this Sunday and try it out in the kitchen whilst SWMBO is out, thinking that it will be washed up and put away before she gets home so she'll never know. The meths fumes hung around for hours. Its a good job I was working away this week or I'd have been sleeping in the tent in the back garden!

Re: Carrying Meths

Thanks for the replies.

Its a "normal" cycling plasic water bottle I was thinking of using - not aluminium (I have a lot old ones lying around). The main reasons I thought it might not be suitable were that the drinking valve at the top might not hold the meths vapour for a couple of weeks, and that when hot, tired and thirsty I might just forget it it isn't water in there!

Re: Carrying Meths

Will this fit in a normal water bottle cage, or would it need something like a Bikebuddy?

Carrying Meths

Hello,
I have just joined the CTC and am planning my first camping trip. I need to carry meths for use in a Trangia mini stove.
Is it unsafe to carry the meths in an old water bottle, i.e.should I just buy the proper bottle and large bottle carrier to support it?

Regards
