Re: Straight or Drop Bars

I cant stand drops and thats what on my Sadar. I don't find them comfortable no matter what hight or position I have them (using the drops). You might mean, "no matter what height or position I can get them to ". Drops take you further forward than straight bars and the low-cut steerer on...

Re: Straight or Drop Bars

I cant stand drops and thats what on my Sadar. I don't find them comfortable no matter what hight or position I have them (using the drops). So much so I started using my Falcon Hylander hybrid instead as its more comfy. I going to put some sort of semi straights on my Sadar when I get round to it a...

Re: Front rack for a Steel 631 framed Dawes Sardar

If it was me, I'd buy a Tara and figure it out - it's so close to fitting. The conclusion from the OP was that filing a chamfer on the rack bracket would do it - and it would I reckon. It did and perhaps another of the same (tara lowrider) may just be tad different and not need any "tweaking.&...

Re: Loctite?

Usually used more on motorcycles etc. where vibration is present. There are various grades but the most common used are - Blue Loctite 242 or its equiv' is a medium strength loc for small threaded fasteners which perhaps need to be removed at a later stage and can be undone with a spanner/wrench. Re: Tubus Tara prob/ Dawes Sadar (steel frame) forks

Was just about to place an order for a Tara rack for my steel Sardar when I did a quick search and came accross this thread! Am I ill advised to try and fit this rack? Is there a similar, more suitable alternative? Thanks[/quote] No I dont think you'll have probs. Mine really only had just a slight ...

Re: Sit up and beg

I have three bikes (was 4 until one got nicked) of different types. My Dawes Sadar with drops. A Falcon 26" hybrid with flat bars and my late dads old (55-60 year old?) Raleigh with cowhorn type bars. The Raleigh is the most comfortable of the lot for short trips not involving big hills or high...

Re: Campsites and Wild camping in Spain

I envy you and wish I was going on a similar trip but for now am having to care for my aging mother so cannot escape like I once did. Reading posts like yours keeps me going.
Just suss out places before dark if you can then come back to them at dusk etc.
Good luck and let us know how you go. 8)

Re: How do you dry gloves, coats etc whilst camping

Or, something that you can wear wet if need be and still be warm like Buffalo Systems gear. I have a (although not cycling specific) Buffalo Special Six shirt and that is warm when wet and has a kangaroo pocket you can stuff things in and they dry out from your body heat and the excellent wicking of...

Re: Wild camping in Corfu?

Not Corfu, but in Rhodes (and not recently) but I dossed (dossbag in a plastic bag if it rained) for a month. Slept in all sorts of places hidden away. The usual trick, suss a good spot out and return when nayone is around. Only trouble I had was getting eaten alive by mozzies. It was towards the en...

Bit late now I know but there was a decent one (Steel frame) on Fleabay about a week ago. It went for about £260 if I remember correct.
They pop up on there from time to time. I paid £280 for mine back about 5 years ago.
