Re: Huntingdon: Angry pedestrian guilty of killing cyclist

As tragic as it was, I can't think of any crime that the defendant committed.

Re: Huntingdon: Angry pedestrian guilty of killing cyclist

Being autistic it is possible she lacked the mental capacity to show remorse/empathy, or even understand the consequences of her actions. Depending on the severity of her condition, that is.

Likewise, she may not have in any way forseen the possible consequences of her actions because of her condition.

Re: Yaw Know About Solar Chargers?

My new charger has two USB sockets - one marked with a hare, the other with a tortoise.

I don't understand the logic of a fast and a slow charger. I was assuming the electrical output from it would vary according to sunlight.

Maybe the fast socket is connected to more circuits/charging cells than the slow one? After all it is a three panel charger.

No more than it's going to damage a portable power pack, one suspects.

It's output is given a 5v/2.4A. But not sure what that means in terms of a cloudy day. Do you get fewer volts or fewer amps, or both? But then again I don't know what a volt or an amp is.

Yaw Know About Solar Chargers?

My new three panel solar charger seems to be saying to me 'Connect a power bank and not a mobile phone', or at least the instructions for it does. It appears you can get problems on a dull/overcast day with a mobile phone attached. Of course I am now worried about damaging my phone.

Helpful comments appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Fitting Shimano Cues U 4010 40/ 29 Chainset

I thought the Cues chainset was single only ... but there are a number of compact doubles out there now.

You coud also switch to triple, but at greater financial outlay.

Gore Windstopper Fabric(s)

I've come across different types of Gore Windstopper fabric over the years. The latest incarnation seems to be 'Infinium', which strikes me as being particularly lightweight compared to early Windstopper fabric.

My question: Is there only one contemporary type of Gore Windstopper fabric? Infinium. Or are there a number of fangled variations.

Thanks.

Re: Campag freehub failure

I am with a broken pawl spring.

When Campg switched to a single pawl spring instead of the three separate ones they confessed to not using strong enough steel in their manufacture ... loads broke, including one in my Record hubs. The stronger-steel versions are less likely to break, but not sure where your 2010 hubs fit into the chronology.

Re: Advice on Accident

If a claim at a County Court is ever likely to run into 'many thousands', well then the advice of one (or more) contributors to this thread of consulting a lawyer might have been good advice. But common sense would suggest we are talking in terms of a dent dinking out and a respray.

Having a County Court Judgement against you can be bad. It can affect your financial standing, and then if you can't pay you can get the bailiffs turn up. Reaching an out of court agreement where you maybe foot the garage bill might be a better option.

If you have not decided this forum is not for you, I'd be interested to know your answer to one question:
How did the operators of the other vehicle involved or their representatives have your personal details to write to you saying they were holding you liable?
(This isn't a trick question but the answer will give some clues about how the present situation was reached.)
Presumably there is only one way that could have happened: the cyclist volunteered his/her personal details after the accident.

Re: Advice on Accident

It is very difficult to wriggle out of your responsibility for hitting and damaging the back of a stationary vehicle, whatever the level of any wrongdoing on the part of its driver.
