Re: Team Sky is now Team INEOS

Yes, Glyneath LC rings a bell. It would have been the 2005 Nationals. My lad finished 5th, I think. He did a 56 and his previous PB was a 1.03. Alex Dowsett won.

Only to get back to the race HQ.

No, the uphill bit is to get from the HQ to the start. My son rode the National Junior 25 Champs on the R25/3. He beat his previous 25 PB by 7 minutes.

Re: Winter or summer, which is worse?

There are still some nice days at this time of year, despite the seemingly incessant rain. You have to pick your days to cycle. It’s looking good for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as well as the weekend this week. Yesterday and today have been a washout. It is getting colder too. The worse time is af...

Re: Cycling after prostate cancer

I had a Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) a couple of years ago - not for Cancer, my enlarged prostate was benign. I returned to cycling about 4 weeks after the operation and spent the winter building my fitness back with steady rides. By spring, I was completely back to full fitness an...

Re: What helmet cam?

I have the Cycliq 12 combined light and camera mounted on the bars (and a rear mounted Cycliq 6). Nothing else touches them for battery life. They will both run for 6 hours in camera mode. Not cheap but then you don’t need separate lights.

No discernible rattle with either camera.

Re: Help for commuting

It all depends on how hot and sweaty you get. I used to commute 5 miles to work but would work up a healthy sweat, so I wore cycling clothes and got changed when I got there. Yes, I could have ridden slower (much slower!), but that would have taken an extra 10 minutes and I can get changed in less t...

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

The C2W scheme is flawed in several ways. It should be available to all taxpayers, regardless of whether your employer has signed up for it. It’s not available to those who don’t work. I’ve retired, I still pay tax and I’m riding my bike more than ever I did whilst I was at work, so why can’t I enjo...

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Can’t open your link, but they are the weatherproof ones. I’ve used them for the last 4 or 5 winters in temperatures down to freezing. They do keep your hands warm as well as any other gloves I’ve tried. They are better than Decathlon’s gloves that are 3 times the price and as good as the Sealskinz ...

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Just go into your local Aldi. They should still have them in. My local store had the yellow ones shown in your link, and the black ones, which I bought.

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Aldi currently have their winter gloves in store, on sale for £5.99 a pair. An absolute bargain and they are decent gloves too. I’ve just bought my 4th pair of these.

They also have neoprene gloves for slightly more, but I’ve not tried those.

Re: Now to raise Hackles-The Tour de France

Should they have stages on the same days as the men, or a completely separate race on different dates. Both the Women’s Giro and the Women’s Tour of Britain are stand alone races. Nothing to do with the men’s races, apart from the same organisers. There used to be a Women’s TdF on the same days as t...

Re: Cars using horn whilest they are stationary and you are cycling past.

There’s a danger of the “boy who cried wolf” here. If we complain about stuff like this, then people won’t listen when we really have something to complain about. It may be illegal, but the 4 year old is below the age of criminal responsibility anyway. Save your bullets for when you’ve really got so...

Pedersen wins!

I thought MVDP and then Trentin had it in the bag, but it’s never over til it’s over.

Re: Road Worlds

Yes, confirmed that Eekhof has been DQ’d. A shame to let the rider get to the finish, win the race and then DQ him.
