Re: Prescription Sunglasses

Seeking advice on RX prescription inserts to fit on a pair of glasses. I'm looking at buying a pair of Oakley Racing Jacket glasses with prizm lenses online as they look just perfect for protecting my eyes from flies/debris plus covers more than other cycling glasses. There is one website Extreme Ey...

Re: Pescription Sunglasses

Optilabs. Been using them for 10+ years. I now need variofocals and I got mine on offer for £199 IIRC. I would not even consider wearing my day specs on the bike as they were over £600! These are my current(will need to replace this year as they're 4 years old in June) https://live.staticflickr.com...

Re: Pescription Sunglasses

Hi, I really do miss wearing a pair of wrap round sunglasses but sadly they're no longer suitable for my eyes as I need varifocals, which for some reason, cannot be done on a wrap round framed glasses. I'm currently wearing a pair of normal varifocals that is light and is able to go dark when the s...

Re: BIKE CARGO TRAILER for dogs

My sister in law hired a child buggy trailer to transport her ageing Labrador when we spent the day cycling around one of the Scottish Isles. The Lab wouldn't stop in & kept jumping out, ending up running alongside or behind her so it might be wise to put on a car seat belt type harness to preve...

Re: Are toe clips worth having?

I prefer toe clips (the ones without straps) as I can quickly stop with my foot on ground instead of struggling to get it out in time.

Also not keen on clipless systems as I know a few who have had difficulty twisting them out of their pedals in time & have often fallen over.

Re: Adding more gears?

Many thanks for your advice.

I currently have grip shift gears that is becoming quite stiff on the right that the rubber part has worn out in ribbons hence the reason of looking at improving gears on the bike.

I don't think they make grip shift gears anymore do they?

Adding more gears?

I have a 1996 Trek 970 Singletrack mountain bike, which has 21 speed & I 'd like to keep this bike for another few years. Would it be possible to add more gears up to 27?

Re: History of my vintage racing bicycle?

I've tried using img but all I can see are two blue boxes with question marks in the middle. :(

I can't seem to be able to upload attachment as the 'Choose file' is pale compared with the 'add the file' so not sure where I'm going wrong?

History of my vintage racing bicycle?

Hi all,

I have a 1976 chrome coloured racing bicycle with CTC Silverstreak on the top frame & Capital on the lower part of the frame.

Does anyone know the history? Were there cycles with CTC selling during the 70s along with Dawes, Raleigh, etc?

Thanks
