Re: Bit of a dilema, your thoughts invited.

My social responsibility is fulfilled by things I can be a bit more sure of the outcome of...And I don't equate punishment with justice.. Having known a few people who have been through the justice system and seen it be worse for all concerned I stay out of these things, is anyone really being hurt?...

Re: CTC App ?

And I'll add that I have seen other sites not get into things like this and there missing a massive MASSIVE opportunity, there are so many others making use of good apps that enhance and make easer the whole web experience. I say this a linux desktop user only atm (so no apps) but I have owned an I ...

Re: CTC App ?

speedsixdave, some good ideas there imo, I was thinking similar... Many apps just make navigation easier for touch etc but the possibilities of what could be done seem obvious. A dedicated database of routs and locations updated by members. I was on here the other day reading about someones trip and...

Re: Cut That Kit!

Ahh, almost missed it, insect repellent.

I would take or buy some garlic along the way. I don't know how good it is but then i don't know how good insect repellent is. I know I can't cook with it though... :)

Re: Cut That Kit!

Maps and an ipod? For me also it's a bar of soap, facecloth and toothbrush, couple of disposable razors. Sunglasses? I think a cloth cap would be better... enhance your food and drink, like salt, oil, spices, tea bags, dried milk which want either little containers or bags. Yes these sort of things ...

Re: Why some cyclists greet you with......

"I don't care, it's very effective" Like fairy lights I guess, and helmets, it's a very subjective sort of useful. I think some are trying to help in some way but this is also the UK. We have a very 'correct' attitude in many ways, an island mentality. I myself like the fact we don't all ...

Re: Why some cyclists greet you with......

Could be an epic fail in trying to impress, can't say I haven't been there. If I get to some event I'm assured most will really know more and be far tougher, my only hope is that the information some carry will ware them out. I wonder if it was a struggle to catch up. Some people just have no idea w...

Re: What saddle to recommend?

I was looking at a spoon but I got a good Bel air for £10 used. It's been night and day vs my previous one but not long tested yet. Spoon has to be the one to go for, you will get most of what you paid if it is not suitable. Though I do like the tough sides on mine.

Re: Why some cyclists would not greet you when they overtake

that will be the time that cycling is recognised as a mainstream mode of transport. This was my thinking and I think it is for many. That's one thing I actually like vs motorbikes, it's less of a thing, unless your new it just seems more natural. Though fair play, crossing in the middle of a desert...

Re: Long distance cycle paths over 100 miles

We have the Silkin way, though it's short and well cut up by roads etc, it's a nice cycle path. It is part of the Severn way, a 210 mile route along the Severn valley. I don't think much of if is 'cycle' path. http://www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp/members/show_path.php?path_id=403 However while having a look o...

Re: Tour from Rimini, Italy - wild camping and hostelling in

Thanks this was an interesting read. I guess depending on the weather a bivvy is a good idea. Hard to believe they'd still charge you 10-15 Euros just to bivvy, I would have said I'll give you 6-8 or I move on, maybe just repeat "15 Euros" and see what could be got. Actually I thin...

Re: Why some cyclists would not greet you when they overtake

I don't think it's really fair to compare cycling to motorbikes in some ways. Fair enough out on the road they are maybe as rare but in general they are much more common. Many are just using there bike to get about, I personally don't feel the need to say hi to every cyclist I meet, it takes far mor...
