BTW it is not true that 113mm octalink V2's are only for triples - Shimano used them for some road doubles like the fc-3301/fc-4401, and even the new Claris I think. What is true is that for a period many Shimano mtb chainsets needed a 113mm V2 to achieve a 47.5mm chainline, and they were practical...

I measured chainline of current chainset as shown in sheldon brown

But current chainset is FSA Gossamer with mega exo external bracket

it was 113mm?

Could I measure the chain line with the current crank? OR does it have to be the one I'm installing? If it has to be the one I'm installing I can't measure accurately without the BB.

It doesn't look too bad to me....I don't think you did that removing the cup, it looks like its had a clout from the outside. Is the cup you removed OK? If an OK steel cup will screw back in again, its good enough. Any metal you remove will make the fit looser The original cups were practically sei...

Old bike damaged BB threads

On extracting the old BB cups from a Raleigh medale i have dented/pushed 2 of the threads together. Apparently it can be fixed by tapping out the thread again to force the threads apart I was wondering if any one had a set of BB cutters like these : - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230800707065?ssPageNam...

I've took a punt on the Garneau

Watch this space. Hoping this fits as it says size wise it's a cm bigger than the others I've tried, let's keep those fingers crossed people!!! :mrgreen:

Which part of head do I measure for the diameter?
Circumference is 63-64cm
I'm thinking of a last ditch to try this one

The only one I like is the Louis Garneu one, but I'm sick of having to send them back when they don't fit
