Re: Rims with decent braking surface thickness?
I have been using Mavic open pro rims on my three bikes for about 12 to 15years and they are nowhere near worn out. Also I am using tyres (23- 700,s) some of which are 8 years old. Admittedly I do not cycle in the bad weather ( to cold).I run, it is warmer.

Shimano 600 chainset with Shimano 105 front mech.
I have a Planet X RT80 Carbon frame with a braze on 105 front mech.I have tried to fit an old (1988) 600 chain set 52-39 teeth with a Shimano 113 square taper axle, the mech will not go near enough to the frame (seat tube) to allow the chain to move to the small ring, is there any way round this (apart from a longer axle) .

Seatpost slip.
I have built up a bike using a Spa Audax 725 frame and a Thomson alloy seatpost, if i hit a bump in the road a bit hard the post sometimes moves down in the frame.I have tried using carbon paste which is for use with carbon frames but thought it worth a try. The bolt is tightened as hard as it will go. Any ideas on this please.
