EBAY - Very Rare Saxon USWB split seat tube tandem frame, forks, wheels and parts 21/21''

I have owned this frame since 1978 (original receipt included) and had it re-enamelled (white) in 1979. The frame and forks are in good condition but the rear stay was repaired at some time in the past. Also one of the clamps on the front bottom bracket was repaired. The tandem was raced at Meadowba...

Re: Camping in Switzerland

Hi I cycled Route 3 (Basel to Chorino)last July and had good cycling weather (not too hot but sun/clouds). I found campsites busy and expensive (25 -30 SF) at this time of year but there was very limited choice - a matter of take what you can get. In some places eg. near Gothard pass you can 'sleep ...

Re: Switzerland/Italy routes

Thanks for the responses so far. I've found the website mentioned - it looks very useful. Pretty certain I'll do the North - South route with a variation or two.

Switzerland/Italy routes

I'm planning to have a week or so cycling in Switzerland in July, possibly reacing the Italian Lakes before returning home (by train). I wondered if anyone can recommend a good route, taking in some quiet alpine passes and avoiding heavy traffic. I know this sounds vague at the moment but I'm open t...

Nokia phone GPS

Has anyone out there got experience of using a mobile phone handset with built in GPS. I'm wondering if this might be a practical alternative to buying a garmin for the bike and a Sat Nav for the car. Virgin are offering a Nokia 6220 with Nokia maps for £18/month, but I know nothing about the practi...

I've just come from LE and stayed at the hostel. It's rather nice and a pleasant walk into St Just (pubs etc). Only a 30 min ride to LE for the start, so go for it (£17.95 per night). I had breakfast at a nice cafe in the grounds of a big house just outside Penzance - can't remember the name but cof...

Hi I'm looking to do LEJOG in 2 seperate sections (if that's allowed by the purists!) as I live at the half way mark in Yorkshire and can't justify 2 weeks off work etc. So, I'm planning to do the first half staring in LE on 16/6 if anyone is interested. Plan is to follow one of the standard CTC rou...

Dalmatian tips

I'm looking to cycle in Croatia but have not been before. Does anyone know whether there are any good bike hire shops so i don't have to deal with the likes of Ryanair/Easyjet for the privelage of having your bike smashed up. I would take the train, but only have 10 days in total. I'm thinking of cy...

This brings back memories for me as i used to work for the government agency that provided the grants and built the factory for British Eagle in Wales. I used to visit the factory regularly and bought a Touristic frame 'ex factory' to replace a damaged frame. I built the bike but it was never used. ...
