Re: Growth

There is no getting away from the fact that economic growth is a fundamental and crucial element of the capitalist myth. I'm not sure eternal growth is a fundamental tenet of capitalism. While I admit to not being much of an expert on capitalist economics (written of as inherently morally corrupt m...

Re: Growth

Socialist utopias are fine in theory but are useless in practice. Al Is that a fact? Strange, as a socialist for almost half a century I have no knowledge of anything remotely resembling a "socialist utopia" ever existing "in practice". "Socialism" has never yet been a...

Re: Polish population in the UK. Can't wear my'Poppy With Pr

Why British people don't let us Polish cyclists here in the UK take bicycles on trains? Recently, when putting my bike in a bike space on a train I was shouted at by a British man! WHY DO BRITISH PEOPLE HATE BICYCLES AND CYCLIST SO MUCH??? Surely it must have something to do with the Second World W...

My message to Mansfield District Council:- --- Please tell us about your complaint. While well aware that much nonsense is spouted on internet forums, I would like to draw you attention to the rather concerning story I read earlier today. The person passing on the news returned to confirm it's verac...

Re: Polish population in the UK. Can't wear my'Poppy With Pr

Maybe he was from that bit of Poland called Ost-Prussia, it is Poland NOW but it used to be German. And before that, Prussia and before that, a possession of the Teutonic knights and before that, the land of the Old Prussians. We could well go back to Erectus and Neanderthal but Wiki runs o...

Re: Poppies (may offend true patriots)

Thanks Moodyman1 for the link to the article. The hypocrisy and double standard of our political and military leaders in recent decades has overtaken the original idea that we were to remember in order to never let it happen again. They have destroyed what for many years was a deeply moving occasion...

Todays R4's Law in action

R4's Law in action "Britain and human rights law" just finished. The HR stuff was interesting enough but there was also a bit at the end about cycling and the law. "The programme also looks at cycling law. As the number of cyclists on our roads increases, so too does the conflict betw...

Re: Questions for Motorcyclists

All I was suggesting is that having a young woman perched on the back may affect a rider's judgment. Indeed! You need to be careful typing girl on a motorcycle into google but:- http://youtu.be/0Gh1rzHktMU On a Dommie Manxman or SS I think. Some good old clips at the end too.

Re: Questions for Motorcyclists

More seriously, if slightly off topic, I have always felt that nobody should be given a driving licence without first passing a motorcycle test, although I know that isn't realistic ; I think motorcycle lessons about anticipation of other people's behaviour and road conditions, and the feeling of v...

Re: Check out that old ally!

As this went as I dismounted, It sounded and felt like the chain pinging of a tooth under load. So I parked, had my sarnie and drink and got back on! It felt like full suspension. For a couple of yards I was wondering if it was the saddle or the bars that had slipped.
