Re: Left it too late to change sprockets?

Thank you, those will be on order this evening!

Re the SRAM, I give it a teaspoon of oil every 6 months. Should I be reckoning on a deeper service after these 10 long years?

Re: Left it too late to change sprockets?

Wow, so helpful! Thank you for all the advice.

I won't pretend to understand the technical bits but will go and get my dictionary and have a good Google before coming back with questions.

Very glad it seems I can keep the SRAM marching on.

Left it too late to change sprockets?

Evening all I have an old-style Brompton that has a SRAM/SACHS hub gear - they don't make the sprockets any more, and Brompton now fit a different sort of hub. Foolishly I've let the chain stretch. It still runs smoothly most of the time, but the sprockets are too far gone just to switch a new chain...

Re: Can't signal left - turn indicator?

This is all very useful - thank you. I'll take a close look at the suggested kit. Get the point about the unusual nature of the lights and possibly being missed. I'm thinking the closer they approximate motorbike winkers in size, width apart, and behaviour, the better. So I may look for some afterma...

Can't signal left - turn indicator?

Morning folks My other can't signal left and I'm wondering about fitting turn indicators. Anyone any experience of this? I thought I might possibly cannibalise from a Honda CB125 or similar, though those may be too heavy. A quick search on here suggests there are commercial kits that come and go, to...

Re: Choosing a Brompton bag

Thanks both for such helpful answers. Matlockmark, you did better with their website than I did!

I'll definitely look at the Carradice: I'm dead impressed with their stuff in general.

Much appreciated,

Ed

Choosing a Brompton bag

Hi all Wondering if anyone can guide me through the puzzling options for Brompton bags... https://bromptonjunction.com/product-category/bags/classic-bags/ I have S handlebars - but I infer that I'm not restricted to the 'S' bag, since there is also a 'T' bag but no T handlebars - is that right? Also...

Re: What's that mounting bar thingy called?

Wow, that's a nice haul of info from a diddly little post! Thank you for all the tips - the reason for getting one that mounts either side of the bar stem was so that the bike could still (with care) be put upside down at the roadside when need be. But since they seem to be easily released, twisted ...

What's that mounting bar thingy called?

Hi all I'm looking for a mounting bar that I can put on my wife's crowded racer handlebars, to take a front light and possibly some other gubbins that may accrue there later. I'm not finding much on the shop websites, but I think I must be searching wrong, bc I've seen them often enough on the road....

Brompton seat height

Hi all I have a Brompton with the regular seat-post. It's about 2.5cm too short for me at the maximum extension. There are two options from Brompton: an extended seat-post, or a telescopic one. Does anyone know if you can trim the extended seat-post to the right length? Since weight is a bit issue, ...

Thanks, @fatboy. Is it obvious to tell whether I've caught it in time? ie, how will I know?

Re: Chain length - am I too late?

Thanks for that! I bought a new chain, and it skips - especially in the smaller of the two sprockets on this 6-speed Brompton.

Can I just replace the sprockets now, or will the chainring ensure that any new chain wears too fast, so better replace that too?
