Re: Is there a group near Boston or Spalding
Thanks - I might give it a go. Trouble is I'm not that fit at present - I used to tour all around Europe but not into racing - just want some company occasionally.

Re: which front mech is compatable with bar end shifters
I will try taking the levers apart to make sure there is no other way of mounting them - It seems to move correctly though
It moves through about 90 degrees
thanks for the suggestion

Re: which front mech is compatable with bar end shifters
Thanks for the suggestions
The bar end just doesent seem to pull sufficient cable to move the mech across the 3 rings.
I get it set up fine for the small ring and middle and then the bar end shifter wont pull it across the large ring.
If I pull the cable by hand the mech will pull over sufficiently.
Conversly if I get it set up for the large ring then the cable is too tight to move back across to the small ring.
I cant see any adjustment on teh Deore mech - other than the 2 screw to set the limit - I have tried these on every possible setting
it is very frustrating

which front mech is compatable with bar end shifters
Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows which front mechs are compatible with bar end shifters.
I have had straight bars with shimano LX combined brake and thumb shifters and Deore front mech with triple ring on my Dawes Galaxy - all worked fine but now I want to reinstate the drop bars and bar end shifters that it came with. Unfortunately I cannot find the old RSX front mech and the Deore front mech seems to be incompatible.
Spent a day trying to set it up only to realise that the pull from the bar end shifters is insufficient.
I have been unable to source an RSX front mech.
Any suggestions would be very welcome
Thank you

Hi TC - had some problems with a computer hacker last year - they hacked into my yahoo, ebay and paypal accounts and changed the passwords. It caused a lot of problems including having to change all passwords for my bank accounts.
Paypal were by far the easiest deal with and the speadiest to respond - putting a stop on the account and reactivating it when the computer problem was sorted.
I was able to speak to a real person on the phone - definitely not the case with ebay or yahoo - and was very pleased with the service.

Thanks for the replies - I dont think they should stress the bar any more than ordinary bar ends bolted on - although the torque is probabaly greater - and I have been told they dont look very elegant and are very 'clunky'.
SJS said they were no longer in production but I thought there might be the odd pair lurking somewhere that I could try.
I thought they might be a possible solution to the problem off a twist gear change, which wont go around any bended bar at all, with a drop bar riding position.

Where I can get Newk Bar ends
The bend is such that they can turn a straight bar into a semi drop but have been unable to get a set.
SJS no longer stock them and I have done the usual internet searches but cannot find an importer.
Does anyone know where I can get these bar ends please - or have some they would like to sell - or suggest an alternative.
Help would be appreciated - thanks
