Re: Cars overtaking and then slowing down.

Nonsense of course you can tell if it's safe to pass in many circumstances. It's not some voodoo magic to work out. I can not decide for another what they should do. The law says: only a police officer in uniform may direct traffic. That is enough for me, I do not need to think about or question wh...

Re: Black ice

Wet day followed by cold night are the days to avoid. Otherwise on a regular commute you'll be fine. On a country lane ride on the gravelly bit in the middle, camber means water drains to edge. Watch out on bridges as well, cold air underneath means they can be icy when everything else is fine. On a...

Re: well beat this?

However it might be a shortish lived record, as Amanda Coker is currently on course to set a new record beating not only the women's but the men's record.. aiming for 82,000 miles and is currently clocking up around 130+ miles per day. However not entirely convinced, might be within the letter of t...

Take a look at GT600 tracker. You'll get 160 hours recording at 10 second interval.

Re: "You wear a hat, why not wear a helmet?"

I don't know what my top speed is. I guess that I get up to ~60 kph on the downhill from work. I honestly find that a bit scary, with or without a helmet. The part that bothers me the most I go a bit slower; there is a bend with one of those metal guard rails on it, and I cannot go along that at sp...

Re: To cook or not to cook?

If you want a hot drink in the morning an unbreakable flask can serve that purpose. Fill it up at a cafe in the evening then use for drinks in the morning.

Re: What constitutes a beautiful bike?

In direct response to the original question: me, on it, and finishing PBP 2019. Wow 2019, where does the flux capacitor fit? The capacity would be mine but I can do without the flux, ta very much. That's what clobbered me in 2011. I was referring to your post that you'd finished PBP in 2019 which i...

Re: Cyclists in Stealth Mode.

Or it simply highlights that drivers hitting cyclists is not because the cyclist wasn't visible enough but because of driver inattentiveness. Those who recognise this are less likely to wear hiviz as a "safety aid" but instead adjust their riding to take account of this inattentiveness of ...

Re: Victim blaming?

Just before Christmas I was driving down to Cowbridge to buy a few things and as I rounded a corner I saw a cyclist wearing a bright yellow jacket. Then I saw his three companions wearing black. He really stood out, whilst they blended in with the hedge. Was that before you drove into the back of t...

Re: Horse badly spooked by inconsiderate bloke on a bike

Horses are "prey animals" and as such are geared to res[pond to threats. There is an even bigger problem with recumbents where their low sleek shape is the profile of many predatory pieces. No bigger a problem than the usual horse / bike encounter it's all down to using your voice to key ...
