Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Guys, Best of luck today, hope you all have a great day. I wish I was there to put a person with some of the great names on here, bendo, busaste etc. We're all nuts to get such a kick out of such an odd ball bike and I'm really disappointed I can't get to meet my fellow crazies :D Enjoy the day Cormac

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

In my search for a lower 1st gear for my Aerospace GrandSport I picked up this little piece of bicycle art. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I'm pretty smitten with this!! Its a 52-42-32 triple. The condition is remarkable with some reasonable wear on the 52 chain ring but the 42 and ...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Hello, Cormac. Thank you for the welcome. :-) Dnrc messaged me back, saying he still has his bike. So I'm very VERY relieved. I was already wondering what he did with that bike that the frame looks like it's been in a few accidents. Scratched and almost all of the stickers are gone, plus the wheels...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Hi, guys. I've posted this in another section, but Brucey was kind enough to point me in this direction. So here it goes again. I'm sure you guys can help me out, identifying my new love. :-) I'm new to this forum and hope I'm posting in the right place. I figured that Bikes and bits would be the r...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

I'd suggest some clips and straps rather than just shorty clips; this will allow pulling up as well as pushing down, and steeper climbs whilst still in the saddle. BTW I may have a suitable chainring in my stash; I'll take a look. cheers Thanks Brucey, Herself wasn't keen (understatment  ) o...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Hi guys, Great photos! With all these restorations someone should do a run of decal prints! I need a little help here with my Grand Sport. My wife uses it for triathlons normally but is starting to go further afield with training and is finding on tougher climbs that she doen't have a low enough fir...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Hi guys, Just a quick question on the Bottom Bracket bearings. I replaced the bearings on my wifes Grand Sport at the beginning of last year, I can't remember what brand bearing I used but they are gone again after 2,500km. Now I did damage the internal rubber seal on one of the bearings when I inst...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

I've three options, 1) leave it alone and hope it holds together 2) replace bearings on the Viscount spindle 3) replace the bearings with the Klein spindle. The engineer in me wants to take option 3 but I don't have a spare crank. The crank thats on it was misaligned before, as diagnosed by Busaste...

Re: Scallop shell road surface

. Some forest roads in my area have had raw scallop shell dumped on them (with permission from Forest Enterprise) and then rolled over a couple of times with a pick- up truck. The resultant surface cannot reasonably be cycled on in any safety to person or tyres as there are sharp shards all over th...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

My Wife did her second triathlon on the Viscount yesterday. :D :D Everything was going great until about 1km from home she went to change from the small chain ring to the big one and the chain came off! She's not very experienced and it took her a good while to put it back on so she lost 3 or ...

How about one of these, they seem to work on motorbikes anyway.

Re: Benefits of lugged frame

I looked back at the previous thread you referred to, I think we have a semantic difference, between the load "hanging on the top spokes" and the load "shared between all the spokes which are above the hub". Yeah, agreed, its the kind of thing that wouldn't be a cause of disagre...
