Re: Waterproof Spray

Many thanks. I'm pretty sure both of my laps were wet yet one of the legs has all tapes in place. I will do the test or cycle in the wet and report back.

Waterproof Spray

Hi, My waterproof trousers (Sprayway) I bought over 10 years ago. They are not waterproof on my thighs when I'm cycling. Just wonder has anyone tried those waterproof Sprays in a can. Did it work? How long would one of those 400ml cans last ? Thanks

Re: Tour North England : Ideas please

Thanks to everyone for replies. Planning to go mid-June. I could camp if my bike and I can take the extra load. I have some lightweight camping gear. I have a Thorn Addax tourer that is ok for medium weight loads (I need to check what that is). There are quite a few suggestions for routes. I would n...

Thank you very much for all your replies.
There's a few ideas there.

Thanks

Tour North England : Ideas please

Hi I live in Scotland and want to go for one week's cycling in North of England . I was thinking, Yorkshire or Cumbria. I would be grateful for any ideas anyone has. I would maybe stay in Youth Hostels. Mileage per day : guessing , about 50. I saw this site http://www.lakesdalesloop.co.uk posted els...

Re: Difficulty remove Chain link

Thanks for all replies. After posting I found out I don't need to remove my chain to clean it well enough for me, but I will remember all said in case I need to remove the chain sometime. Thanks

Difficulty remove Chain link

Hi, I have a KMC 10 chain on my bike. It has a link which looks like it can be separated, however I can't separate it.
Clean it with degreaser, then try to push the outside links towards the special link, but the special link does not budge.
Very grateful for any help

Re: New wheels recommend please

Yes , I want to go for 28mm tyres. £180 is much more than I would like to pay, so building wheels myself may be the way to go. If you go for Chrinas or similar(Mavic Open Sport or Open Pro), then the rims are narrower and you'll have to adjust your brakes. By adjust, do you mean , simply pull the br...

Re: New wheels recommend please

Thanks everyone for all your replies. Answers to your questions : I weigh 75kg, 5'8". I have not asked my LBS for quote for new wheels - I think they won't be cheap (Edinburgh Bicycle and Alpine Bikes). I think I will try to build them myself given your advice. The Galaxy is 2003 edition. The t...

Re: New wheels recommend please

Thanks Scott, I've never done this, wheel building, but willing to give it a try if you think it would be possible for someone with no experience. Is there a Youtube video that might help . And advice on where to buy rims would be good. How much will it cost roughly ? And, is it straightforward to s...

New wheels recommend please

Hi, My Dawes Galaxy tourer is my second bike, I only use it commuting or going to the shops. The rims on my wheels are noticeably concave, should I buy new wheels and if so can you recommend something as I wouldn't know where to begin other than I would like 28mm tyres and the wheels , I don't want ...

Re: Upper body Clothing

It's great to hear what other wear on top esp. waterproof jackets and windproofs. I saw this review of cycling waterproof jackets http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/group-tests/cycling-jackets-wet-weather-139198 The first one, the Polaris Hexon gets a good review and the link takes you to a £70 jacket o...
