I was wondering if it would be interesting to offer accommodation en route ?
I live close to the LE <-> Jog route and would happily allow anyone who is "wild camping" to pitch up on my land.
I also have two spare bedrooms which could potentially be used.
As well as a lock up garage for safe storage of steeds.
There's also a very nice pub in the village.
Would it be an interesting thread of offerings?
Imagine having a network of forum members offering similar.

Next time I'm in Monmouth I'll find that bridge and report back.

Re: Lejog Road Closure Wye Valley workaround
The tunnel is reopened for the season. I can confirm the wireworks bridge at the tintern end is also open.
Happy days.

Re: Wild Camping in UK
I live at the southern tip of the Forest of Dean (north of Chepstow) = 100s/1000s places to wild camp.
Anyone who wants to can come and wild camp in my garden/allotment.

Re: Lejog Road Closure Wye Valley workaround
Which most likely means the wireworks bridge will be closed that same week.Update from Gloucestershire County Council: the contractors will be setting up their works compound in the Wireworks carpark week commencing 1 August.

The bridge is still open. The "unknown" closure date keeps getting pushed back.

Re: How's your weather?
Just had a shower of rain in Chepstow.
It's been quite pleasant this morning, not particularly hot.

Re: Lejog Road Closure Wye Valley workaround
There is no notice at the Tunnel with regards to the upcoming bridge closure, but I did find this;

Re: Lejog Road Closure Wye Valley workaround
I'll wander down to the tunnel this morning (I live two fields away) and see if there are any notices about the bridge closure.

Re: Lejog Road Closure Wye Valley workaround
Nope, not kidding.
The tunnel is open, but the bridge over to Tintern is closing imminently.
I suppose one could wade over to the welsh side?
But with a loaded bike, almost impossible.
I emailed re the possibility of a temporary pontoon or something of that nature, but received no reply from any of the recipients.

Re: Lejog Road Closure Wye Valley workaround
Do note that although the tunnel is open now, the bridge into Tintern (known as the Wireworks bridge [ https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/51% ... -2.6805982 ]) is due to close for the rest of the season (for refurbishment) next week.
I'll try to remember to keep the thread updated when I know more.
In other words, DO NOT use this tunnel on your Lejog as you'll come out in the middle of nowhere and it would be difficult (though not impossible) to get back on the A466 main road.

Best bike I ever had. Wish I could remember who I sold mine to (someone on this forum) so I could trade it back.

Great stuff thank you. Looks like it's my turn this summer.
I do still laugh at the thought of shouting "WIMPS" at you guys when I saw you in Gloucester
