Temporary minibus insurance
Hi everyone. Could I please pick your brains!
I'm cycling the Jogle at the beginning of July this year together with six other friends on behalf of Crohns society. We're being lazy and have a support team of three. Ive managed to secure the use of a college minibus to act as the support vehicle, but I have to insure it myself. Easier said than done though!! You'd think I was trying to get to the moon, as I can't find anyone to insure the veh on a temp basis. I've spent hours online searching but no luck. Companies like ' Dayinsure ' will only insure you if you are a registered charity or education establishment and are using the veh for a purpose connected with that organisation, unfortunately fundraising for charity is not covered!! The college can't help either as their insurance only covers employees.
Does anyone know of an insurance company that could help ?

Re: Dura ace bar end shifters
Thanks everyone for the advice. i will take a look at the set up of the shifter, but followed the shimano plans. Everything is brand new, so cables shouldn't be the problem, I'm sure it will be me!!

Dura ace bar end shifters
I,m just finishing building a Surly LHT and am working on the gears. Ive installed dura ace bar end shifters, but am having difficulty getting them to sync. Does anyone know if Dura ace shifters are compatible with a 9 speed Shimano XT long cage rear mech?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: 4yr old riding bike, accused of scratching neighbours car
Aaltun, dont be concerned regarding any Police involvement in this incident. Please let me put your mind at rest.
Your son is 4yrs old and as such is way below the legal age limit of criminal responsibility. The offence that any Police involvement would constitute would be criminal damage, and that offence would only be complete if your son deliberately damaged the car, or caused damage to the vehicle neglectfully, ie ( say he was a bit older and was throwing stones in the street and one damaged the car, even though he didnt mean to cause damage ), but he cant do this as he is not recognised in law as being able to have the necessary ' MENS REA' to commit this offence. Dont worry about mens rea, this is legal jargon concerning ones ability to have intent to do something wrong.
What you have here as far as a Police officer is concerned is a classic ' Civil dispute '. The Police would only advise both parties regarding this. They would advise you to seek the services of a solicitor, if it went that far, and they would advise your neighbour the same thing if they wanted to take any action against you. If that happened then that is te time I wouls seek help from C.A.B
Re the aggressive behaviour, if the Police attend you should inform them of this, and the likely outcome is that they will advise your neighbour re his behaviour.
Hope this helps.

Re: Police response: well done!
Nutsey, There is an offence in law called inconsiderate driving. the driver by his actions causing you to take evasive action to avoid a collision would be guilty of this offence. If you feel strongly enough about the incident you should report it at your local station. Police officers are a decent lot and I,m sure you will feel better after speaking to an officer. You could always request that the driver be advised regarding his manner of driving.
