Re: JOGLE Start 28th May

All went well, weather was horrendous throughout especially the last couple of days from Bristol on! However, all done now and met some great people and had a great time! JT

Re: Why Wick and not Thurso way?

Thanks Guys for all the advice, it's very kind of you.

Our plan is to go first day down to Alness and we're starting about 4-5am as we are getting a lift there and that's what time they can do it! Still it should give us a good day to get in to the thing! Can't wait, D_Day 28th May! :)

I have planned my JOGLE 28th May to start at JOG and then head off through Turso and then south, whilst most oth er routes seem to head off to Wick! Am I missing a trick here? All advice welcome! Thanks in advance! JT

Re: Thnak you

Many thanks, I have read every word of your site and it has been a great source of information and comfort! I have found it helpful to plan my route and then to look at others and it appears as though my choices have not been too bad! Am going to use maps I think and am really looking forward to it!...

Re: Can you rent or borrow a garmin?

You know what, I rather like the romantic idea of doing it solely by map! As an ex-army officer I should be capable but rememeber hearing of the gaffitti in Port Stanley, "THE MOST DANGEROUS THING KNOWN TO MAN, AN OFFICER WITH A MAP!" Hehe! I like the idea of getting all the info from the ...

Re: Can you rent or borrow a garmin?

Thanks for the info! I would really be after one of the models that shows which turnings to take etc. They are alot and I don't think that I would be able to justify the outlay to Mrs Taylor!! I downloaded cyclemeter on to my iphone last night and may try organising a route on bikemap.net and upload...

Can you rent or borrow a garmin?

Wow, checked on Amazon amongst others and found the Garmins really expensive, I really don't have that amount of cash to throw at one at the moment or in the near future! Is it possible to rent one or does a kind soul have one that I could borrow in May June 2012, I would happily make a donation to ...

Re: Thnak you

Thank you so much for such a kind offer! If we don't stay then we'll definately stop for a brew! Such sad news about your sons friend, indeed, all the sacrifices made by our armed forces who do it with such pride and professionalsism. We''ll keep in touch and let you know ours plans! :)

Re: iPhone apps/Garmin/Maps?

Thanks guys, you have all been most helpful and it's great to have advice from old hands! We are fortunate that we have an iphone each so can run one until it drops and then use the other as back up! We will take maps, I wonder if there are any preferences to the maps out there to use, OS or a road ...

Thnak you

I am new to the forum and planning a trip with my mate (we're both war pensioners but fully limbed, so doing it for HFH), JOGLE, in June 2012. Just wanted to say thank you to all you posters! The amount of knowledge available to a newbie like me is incredible and being able to read your tales and pi...

iPhone apps/Garmin/Maps?

Doing JOGLE, supported, in June 2012 and wondering if I should invest in a Garmin type device or if there are any decent iPhone 4 apps that will do the job!? Perfectly happy to do it by traditional maps but just like to have computer wizardary in case the weathers foul and can resort to satnav! All ...

Re: Laminated Maps - free to good home

I would be most grateful, if they were still available, and give them a good home. Hoping to JOGLE in spring for Help for Heroes! As an ex-soldier I would happily make a donation.

Kind regards
