Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

I have a D40. I've just had a look online at the motor spec for the NEO3 Bosch motor. It's torque is 50NM as opposed to the D40's 40NM. The battery on the NEO3 is 500Wh as opposed to 280Wh on the Orbea. The new Orbea range extender battery is due out imminently, priced at £549 I would expect 10% dis...

Re: Looking for an E-bike

I'm guessing you may live in Sheffield. You've probably been to JE James where they have a massive selection. Also, a couple of people I know have used Peak eBikes at Hassop Station. They have gone for Raleigh. One got a very well specced Mustang reduced to £1500.

Re: Looking for an E-bike

It's getting towards launch time for next year's bikes. you should be able to pick up a last year model or an ex demo for a reasonable price. If you could up your budget 2 or 3 hundred to £1500 you shouldn't have a problem. Not what you're looking for but my LBS, Igloo Cycles, Chesterfield has an Or...

Re: E-motion app for Orbea Gain

I've more or less given up on the Ebikemotion app. I use it at the end of the ride to see how much battery I've got left. I've also used it to change the power settings on the motor, 80% on green, 90% on amber. It's toned down the assist and increased the range. It's not possible to upload a preplan...

Re: Halfords discount?

This is NOT straightforward. It is as clear as mud. the real situation is, you go to Halfords, choose a product, take it to the counter and wave your membership card. They tell you, where's the barcode, there's an app. They mention British Cycling. I'm not British Cycling, I'm Cycling UK/CTC. You ne...

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

Hi fellow Gain owners. I have a D40 2019 with 10sp Tiagra. I got it at the end of August and have done 1500 miles. Living in Derbyshire, it's fairly hilly. I too have a blood condition, CLL, stamina has deteriorated and I need the assistance, particularly when riding with a group. Up till recently I...

Re: Should electric bikes be allowed on Audax events?

Blimey. I've done a few Audaxes. Didn't realise some participants take the points side so seriously. I did wonder what was the purpose of the cards. Some of the comments are quite off putting to a casual rider like me who has just got an Orbea Gain as age and medical condition takes its toll. I have...

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

i got my 2019 D40 on 31st August having ordered it in June. I am still waiting for the auxiliary battery. I'm not sure I need it but it will quell any range anxiety. I am using about 1% per mile on the battery so should be OK for up to around 80 miles. I have a Brooks Swift saddle and Gilles Berthou...

Re: Shouty chat

As has been said, windrush, poor hearing and often, traffic noise. Pretty agricultural around your area so a bit of earthy language to be expected!
Enjoyed riding in Manchester on closed roads, no traffic - just the whirr of a thousand wheels or more.

Re: Tyre pressure - what width are my tyres?

Go with the size it says on the tyre. Many tyres have the recommended pressure printed or moulded on the side of the tyre. If you line that information on the tyre alongside the inner tube valve when you put the tyre on the wheel, it's there to remind you. My Continental 4 seasons tyres do not have ...

I've still got the original BB - (5500) 118.5mm length. The FD though is a Tiagra double and not the original triple 105. I'll give it a go.

I used a 113 BB offset with a spacer.

Re: Lower Gears!

The specification for the Pinnacle Arkose 3 2013 says that the rear cassette is a 12 27. The rear derailleur is a Sora RD3500 which I think can take up to a 32 cassette. Try changing the cassette. I can't find that rear mech on the shimano tech docs, all sora long cage rear mechs say max cog is 27. ...

Re: Use of rollers

I've made a step for getting on the rollers, otherwise it's a long way down getting off.
Excellent for improvement of balance and pedalling technique.
