Re: Practicalities of living with a trike
I spent 2 or 3 years commuting with an ICE Sprint 26 and it was fantastic but I was fortunate to be able to store it in our large shed which was easily accessible, so all I had to do was wheel it out/in every day. I wouldn't have wanted to have been lifting it anywhere. In my experience a bike/trike...

ICE Sprint 26 - For Sale
Due to a change in personal circumstances I'm no longer able to commute by bike/trike, and I'm not using my trike for leisure riding either, so I'd like to try and see it go to a good home.
I've posted an ad in the For Sale section: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=116268

Re: Fabric Fairings for a Recumbent Trike
Hi Mick, I have an ICE Sprint 26 and Veltop - see picture at http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=15204&p=630130#p630130 . The Veltop has its pros and cons. It does make getting in and out of the trike a little awkward but it does keep the rain off. I haven't used mine for a long tim...

Re: Falls on 'bent bikes...
Only one fall so far: low speed wipeout on gravel, my elbow and thigh took the brunt of it. During an icy spell this winter I also managed to eject myself from my trike but that's not a bike so won't go into how I managed that one...

Re: so when do the shorts come out?
Lovely morning here but temperature barely above freezing so it's still winter gear for me. If I'm lucky the shorts will get an airing in June. As Billy Connolly said "There are two seasons in Scotland: June and Winter."

Re: More Vulnerable?
interested in giving bents a shot, spouse wonders if I'd be more likely to get hit No more likely in my experience. They do attract attention, mostly good, and I've had several beeps and waves or thumbs up from motorists in recent weeks, so I'm clearly not invisible. Despite the occasional non-cycl...

Re: Anyone not get frozen fingers today
My Garmin showed -6 on the way into work this morning. Buffalo mitts keep the digits toasty though they do make braking and gear shifting a little more awkward than with gloves.

Re: How Heavy is too Heavy?
A lighter bike will make the going easier, but not if it's at the expense of comfort. My recumbent trike is probably approaching 50lb without luggage but it's so comfortable that I can happily pedal it all day, though I won't be keeping up with serious roadies.

Re: Just starting out
As already said, titanium is tough but food tends to stick to it more easily than aluminium, so ends up needing a good scrubbing to get clean. I use a lightweight aluminium Trangia pan on an MSR Windpro II remote canister stove that is very stable and has a large burner that makes it good for cookin...

Wool hiking socks and Specialized Defroster Trail shoes for the feet, and Buffalo mitts for the hands.

Re: Buffalo Jackets?
I've tried wearing my Buffalo Mountain Shirt on the bike a couple of times in the past when it's been several degrees below freezing and I've ended up uncomfortably hot, and now prefer my Rab Vapour Rise smock for those conditions as it's more breathable. If it's fairly cold and wet and windy then I...

Re: Rab Ascent 300 or 500 Down Sleeping Bags
It sounds like you're already sorted for summer and winter, so really just needing something to cover spring and autumn. I have a heavy duty Mountain Equipment Dreamcatcher 1000 bag for serious cold winter camping and an old Rab Quantum 400 to cover late spring/summer/early autumn. Earlier this year...

Re: Tyre question for the two wheelers.
I have 26x1.5 Marathon Racers on my Bacchetta Giro 26. They seem fast enough but don't have anything to compare them with because they are certainly durable: 3200 miles later and they look barely worn. Can't remember having had any punctures with them either.

Have a look here: http://gingko-spezialradteile.de/gingkoshop/en/home/ Ohhh interesting. I notice that it says "Only some items on stock - order quickly!" rather than "Ready for shipping" like other products, so maybe it's not actually available yet? I'm concerned by the lack of...
