The role involves:

Contacting the potential Borrowers that are put in touch with you,
Arranging them to collect the tandem from you,
Test riding/teaching them to ride the tandem, making minors adjustments, so that they fit,
Helping them load it into their car,
Chasing them up, a fortnight later, for photos and comments, if not sent already,
Arranging for them to return the tandem, when you have the next people ready to collect,
Receiving the tandem,
Checking over the tandem and doing any minor repairs, if possible,
Repeat.

If you manage it properly then storage should be kept to a minimum. I aim for tandems to be here with me overnight only.

Charlotte's Tandems lends tandems and tag-along bikes for free to anyone with a disability or additional need so that they can cycle wherever, whenever and with whomever they like.

We are looking for lots more Helpers, especially from the North-East of England down into the Midlands and down to Kent. We have loads of tandems in these places and need people to help us lend them out. It is great fun lending to our Borrowers and you see the joy on their faces when they are riding for the first time or for the first time in a very long time.

Charlotte's Tandems lends tandem and tag-along bikes for free, to people with disabilities or a additional needs, all over the UK and Ireland.

We need new Helpers in or near Northanptonshire and in the North-East of England. The Helpers role involves arranging for the Borrowers to come and collect our bikes from you, receiving them back over at the end of the hire and checking over the bikes between hires. Storage isn't for long, if you play it right. I hope you can help, so that we can continue to lend out our bikes in these areas.

We also need one off help of transporting one or two tandems from Leicester to Sheffield.

We now have a new Helper in Surrey. We also have a new Helper in Salisbury and we are thinking that some of our Reading based tandems could be transferred down to him in Salisbury, so that they can be lent out from there instead. Can anyone help us transport them?

Charlotte's Tandems is a unique cycling charity that lends tandems and tag-along bikes for FREE to anyone with a disability or additional need, so that they can ride wherever, whenever and with whoever they like.

We need someone or some people to help us lend out tandems in Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire.

The role involves contacting people who have expressed an interest in borrowing from us, getting them to come and collect a tandem from you, they then have it for at least two months and then return it for you when you have the next people ready. You then get the next people to collect it. In other words you don't need to store tandems for long, if you plan it right.

We have lots of people waiting to borrow tandems in these counties and have lots of tandems available, but need someone or some people to lend them.

Can you help or know someone who might?

We finally have two people to help us. Tim is in Essex and Dean is in Norfolk. We look forward to getting more people on our tandems soon.

Unfortunately our North Essex based Helper has decided that he can't help us anymore. We therefore need to redistribute his tandems. It would be great if we could get one or more people to take over from him. Our other closest Helpers are near Ipswich, near Watford and in Northamptonshire. We could therefore do with Helpers in Essex, West Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and/or Norfolk. Anyone know anyone that might be able to help? If we can't find anyone to help the we'll have to sell the tandems.

The role involves: contacting people that I put in touch with you that would like to borrow a tandem, getting them to come and visit you to collect the tandem, teaching them how to ride the tandem safely, keeping in contact with them whilst they have the tandem, arranging them to return the tandem when the next people are ready. If you have bike maintenance skills then this is great too. It is a very rewarding role, as you meet some lovely people and the joy the riders get is fantastic.

We have a Helper near Haverfordwest, who lends out our bikes there, but she doesn't know much about bike maintenance and could do with some help. Anyone nearby that could help her out with this? I think that the tandem sounds as though it needs the brake cables replacing.
