riding fixed would provide a solution. a touch of gentle back pressure every now and again would slow the bike easily down the tourmalet :wink:

Maybe MickF should look for a double walled rim. I'm all ears if you could find any rims in 406 size. I desire (generally) silver rather than black, but any colour is fine - even black at a push. Must be 36h as well as 28h. Only ones fitting the bill are Mouton MT20 and Sun CR18. ............ but p...

i like these sort of threads. bike bits that have been used. they remind me to try to maintain my commuter as best as i can and eke out it's existence a bit.

if you're glueing and a sticking then are you intending to reuse the hub?

my late father left me a garage with rafters laden with plenty of yorkshire made copper tubing, 22 and 15mm.

it wouldn't rust but i don't fancy it for a bike. be nice and shiny with some wire wool action though.

I put a 22 tooth titanium inner ring on my Dawes Super Galaxy but I almost never use it. It's good to know it's there though. I'm happy running on the middle and outer ring but then I am in Essex. Perhaps if I lived in Derbyshire or Yorkshire I'd have to have another think about using all 3 chainri...
