Re: Old rod-braked Dawes bicycle in Brasil

Hi Cbiazi All I can say is that Dawes bikes are based in my hometown of Birmingham UK, I don't think they make them here any more though. However, I would suggest you sign up and post the pictures at http://www.retrobike.co.uk where there are many knowledgeable people who may be able to help. Good l...

Re: Question re: Forks

It's a touring frame so no suspension to think of on this model.

I take your point about potential damage, the one I saw which raised the question in my mind is on ebay, old stock sold by a shop so presumably forks are missing in action - but a worthwhile question none the less.

Thanks

Question re: Forks

Thinking of buying a frame to make up into a bike for the other half. If I was to buy a second hand frame minus the forks, what considerations are there for getting a set forks apart from the following?: colour Steerer dimensions, ie 1 1/8th inch, and suitable steerer length for the headset and stem...

Re: UN55 Left cup - same as un54?

OK thanks, I saw those 'upgrade' cups, and came to same conclusion re the price.. seems a waste to buy a whole bb just for a cup but have ordered one anyway.

Re: Tektro cr520's on a galaxy

OK thanks for the info, I'm going to give those Alivios a try, low cost and new stock so springs should be ok, I'll keep my eyes open for some NOS of the XT type though maybe.

Think i need to print all this info out and spend some time setting them up as best as possible...

UN55 Left cup - same as un54?

I need a left cup for a un55 (alloy), is it the same fit as the plastic un54 one? and does anyone know where I can buy a spare?

Thanks

Re: Tektro cr520's on a galaxy

Thanks for the info So if i find some brakes that take the stud type I should be fine then? It's the extra washers on the threaded type that's reducing the space too much? These should do? : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-Alivio-Bike-Cantilever-Rim-Brake-Set-P6-Brand-New-/290777473348?pt=UK_sport...

Re: Trekking butterfly bars

Not if it would help, but I had some of these on my old galaxy with trekking bars: http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=ergon+grips&sugexp=chrome,mod%3D11&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=1571530280857872235&sa=X&ei=1UxfUNb-BqLB0gX104HAAw&ved=0CFoQ8wIwAg http://lh6.go...

Re: Tektro cr520's on a galaxy

It's as if the brake arms are spread too wide, seems the combination of narrow boss distance (will try to measure tomorrow, but earlier post suggests Rando's have a gap of about 60mm?) and wide wheel (Alex ta19, website says about 24.5mm) and the spacers on the pads mean that even with the pads at l...

Re: Tektro cr520's on a galaxy

Thread revival, hope it's ok to do so..... I'm having this problem with the space on the forks of my Randonneur. I fitted some tektro cr520's I had spare and realised not enough clearance for the pads. Back to the drawing board (again lol). Does anyone know if either the BR-r550's or the cx50's woul...

Re: Raleigh tourer rear brake hanger adjuster

Been to the LBS and got a stepped ferule for brakes, remembered that the sissy levers on the bar flats have adjusters in them, so should be adequate.

Re: Raleigh tourer rear brake hanger adjuster

So far I've tried a barrel adjuster from a rear mech and also one from a side pull weinmann brake, both were too large unfortunately. Many thanks for the offer though Rob. It's been resprayed but doesn't look like too much paint in there or anything, the old one is lost now. I can get the step down ...

rich100 ISIS(splined) BB's don't last,unless you pay a lot for them,even then I'm not too convinced :? . This is an XD2 chainset with Spa's own rings fitted:- http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s109p2000 fitted on a Shimano UN55 square taper BB they'll run forever(well almost :) ) Hmm...

Raleigh tourer rear brake hanger adjuster

Does anyone know where I can get one of these brake adjusters for an 80's Raleigh frame:

Capture.JPG

It's a very narrow hole, and not a stop so can't just poke the cable outer in. A stepped ferule might do it but would like an adjuster for the canti's

Thanks
