Re: Penny Farthing record

G.P.Mills 1886 5 Days 1 hour 44 minutes is correct according to R.R.A 100 Years of Cycling Road Records. He left Lands End on July 4th on a 53 inch Beeston Humber Ordinary with 3/4 inch solid tyres. It was fitted with a hub lamp and a distance recorder that rang a bell on every mile completed. This ...

Re: 1963 National Road Race Championship

Just dug out an old Cycling magazine from 1963. British Senior Road Race Championfor that year was Bob Addy first. The route used was the Classic Tour of the Peaks event promoted by Manchester Wheeler's. Two circuits totaling 84 miles winning time 3-38-38. Climbs included Snake Pass, Mam Tor, and Ch...

Re: Parcel Services

Got a full refund and has now been sent via ParcelForce. My club mates have used Parcels2go before and they have had no troubles, perhaps this was a one off unlucky incident and the carrier they used failed them badly.

Re: Parcel Services

Yes thats the problem you are 100% correct just a broker or agent but surely my contract for the service is with them. They are not very helpful and if you pay via PayPal if you do manage to get a refund they deduct fees, so less money than you paid, no collection and a 12 hour wait for a no show. R...

Parcel Services

I booked a parcel to be sent to the United States via Parcels2go. It was a load of books and magazines about disabled cycling and various types of bikes, tandems and tricycles which are suitable or can be adapted. This company failed to collect the parcel, waited in for 12 hours! Horrible experience...

Re: Stunning and rare 1950 Thanet Silverlight - rideable cla

eBay fees on about £3100 hammer price would be approximately £471. Dont forget the PayPal fees which apply to postage as well. I was thinking of a specialist auction house.

Re: Stunning and rare 1950 Thanet Silverlight - rideable cla

This is a rare and unusual frame but I very much doubt its worth this sort of money? If it was placed in an auction and it fetched three grand the seller would only realise £2460. The most I have seen one of these fetch is just under the £2000 mark. He is chancing his arm and being really shrewd by ...

Can anyone help please? I have two brand new Suntour Chainsets one is a Superbe and the other a Cyclone. Both date from the 1980-90's I guess. I am struggling to find the correct axle to fit these chainsets. No one has Suntour and all the other BB I have tried in my local shops don't fit. What is th...

Re: Brake Judder

Thanks for the anwers. They are indeed steel forks. Never had this problem before. I even took a tandem trike with Tony Oliver over the Alps. I just had two front brakes a Mafac tandem cantiler and a British Hub Co. tandem drum brake. We hammered it on the descents and had to really jam on the brake...

Brake Judder

I have just purchased a cyclo cross bike fitted with Frog-Leg cantilevers and aheadset. The front brake when applied firmly really judders the front forks. Tried tightening up the head set but its no better. Any ideads? Are these make of brakes known for this fault. Brake levers are flight-deck Sora...
