Job done. An LBS took my pal to a trusted welder. They didn't even charge him.
Many thanks for all the help. Long term i think he will get the stay swapped out. Just needs to get to Lisbon now.

Help. Frame broken.
A friend is 2k into EV 1 and near Santiago. The frame on his 2015 dawes grand tour with disc brakes has developed a 30mm split. His options are a repair or new frame. Unfortunately they don’t seem to make the same frane anymore. Theres a new super galaxy disc frame on eBay would this be compatible. ...

Re: Roscoff to Bordeaux
I cycled from Bayonne to St Malo dropped off by the euro bike bus home on the ferry. It was around 1000km all but 200km on dedicated bike tracks always very close to the coast except across Brittany and quite flat. It was great. I camped all the way.

If you do the outer islands which we enjoyed, there's a nice hostel on Barra which is also a sea canoe centre. The best hostel I've ever used is Nunton House Hostel on Benbecula. The hopscotch ticket Oban to Ullapool I remember as reasonably cheap. We also went across Arran. North of Ullapool there'...

We did it going south but noticed this sign on the other side.
Don't get stuck there, I guess a quick phone call would be a good idea.
If it's not busy and you're in a hurry, rule 5.

Re: 9 day LEJOG - HELP!
The A82 south of Fort William is narrow and fast/busy. There is an alternative but it's a bit of a fiddle. If you cross on the corran ferry you can cycle on the other side of the loch on a lovely empty road, you'll need to get a little ferry back at fort William. Its part of the cycle route, there's...

This. We did Bayonne to St Malo camped all the way. Only wild camped once on a canal towpath when we couldn't find a municipal site. Up to Rayon it will be easy to find wild sites.

It would be a great time to go. We did it last summer. We stayed in hostels to save carrying tents. Most were good, this one was great, Nunton House Hostel on Benbecula. It could be windy. Any specific questions, just ask.
